Who is Esther in Mongil Star Dive?

Esther is a 5-star Wind Assassin from the region of Varhine, available on the Maid & Clover Mascot limited banner running April 15 through May 5, 2026. She plays like a maid who moonlights as a swordswoman, and her entire kit is built around one central mechanic: her Dust Cloud. Get inside it, stay inside it, and hit things until they stop moving. Simple in theory, but there are real tricks to squeezing out her ceiling damage. This guide covers everything you need.

What makes Esther's kit work?

Esther's passive, Maid's Double Life, grants a flat 15% ATK boost while she stands inside the Dust Cloud generated by her Special Skill. That same cloud inflicts Confused on nearby enemies, which prevents them from targeting your party effectively. The combination turns what looks like a straightforward DPS rotation into a mini area-control game.

Her Basic Attack shares the name Maid's Double Life and behaves differently depending on her position. Outside the cloud, she deals Physical DMG with broom strikes. Inside it, those attacks transform into rapid Wind DMG slashes, with the 3rd enhanced hit carrying the highest multiplier at 218.4% damage. That jump from the 2nd hit (32.5%) to the 3rd is enormous, so completing the full enhanced combo every time the cloud is active is non-negotiable.

Her Special Skill, Housekeeping!, creates the Dust Cloud for 6 seconds on a 15-second cooldown. That leaves a 9-second gap where Esther loses her buffs. The correct response is to switch her out during that window, which triggers her Support Skill, Taking Out the Trash. When a teammate attacks while Esther is off-field, she appears near them and prepares an ambush. If an enemy enters her range, she fires off a flurry of slashes dealing 181.6% Wind DMG and inflicting Wind Affliction for 5 seconds. Wind Affliction also reduces the target's Wind resistance by 15%, setting up her next on-field window.

Her Ultimate, The Maid & Clover Inn's Peacekeeper, hits for 625% Wind DMG, knocks enemies airborne, and applies Wind Affliction. Use it inside the Dust Cloud to stack the ATK passive on top of the hit.

What is the best build for Esther?

Best artifact: Wind-Harboring Broom

This is Esther's signature 5-star Assassin artifact, and there is no close second. At base fusion (Gust Flight I), it increases ATK by 10% and boosts Wind DMG by 35% for 10 seconds after using a Special Skill. At max fusion (Gust Flight V), those numbers become 20% ATK and 70% Wind DMG. Since Esther's entire rotation revolves around her Special Skill, that 70% Wind DMG window lines up perfectly with her enhanced Basic Attack combo.

The artifact also scales with Assassin proficiency. At Level 3, it gains up to 15% Crit Rate based on proficiency points. At Level 5, it adds up to 15% ATK by the same formula. Max stats on the artifact itself sit at 883 ATK and 45% Crit DMG.

If you do not have the Wind-Harboring Broom, the Suffocating Darkness artifact is a workable alternative. It increases ATK by a large amount and adds Crit DMG specifically for Support Skill hits, which still feeds into Esther's off-field ambush damage.

Best equipment set: Abyss x4

The Abyss set is the clear choice. The 2-piece bonus adds 10% Wind DMG for 5 seconds after using a Special Skill. The 4-piece bonus adds another 10% Wind DMG for 5 seconds on a critical hit. Both conditions trigger constantly during Esther's enhanced Basic Attack loop, stacking a consistent 20% Wind DMG bonus across her primary damage window.

The alternative is mixing 2 pieces of Devourer Stance (5% Wind DMG when attacking enemies with Wind Affliction) with 2 pieces of Assault Squad Leader (5% ATK for 5 seconds after using a Support Skill). This setup is viable if you cannot complete a full Abyss x4 set early on, but the numbers are lower.

Best monsterlings

For Esther's Link Chain slot, Plains Minotaur is the correct pick. Its effect lowers enemy Wind resistance when you enter combat, directly amplifying every Wind hit Esther lands in the opening seconds of her rotation.

  • Slot 1 (Link Chain): Plains Minotaur (lowers enemy Wind resistance on entry)
  • Slot 2: Taglock (ATK boost after reaching 20 hits, syncs with Esther's rapid attack style)
  • Slot 3: Ice Fist Dude (Crit Rate increase when hitting elemental weaknesses)

The El Dorado Guardian is an alternative for Slot 3. It boosts the whole team's ATK when you hit an enemy's elemental weakness rather than just Esther's Crit Rate, which can be more useful in team-focused content.

What are the best team comps for Esther?

Esther's one real weakness is that she has no built-in crowd control to keep enemies inside her Dust Cloud. Every strong team around her compensates for this.

Mono-Wind team (premium)

This is Esther's best team. Jiwon's Special Skill pulls enemies in front of her, clustering them for Esther's Dust Cloud. Her Ultimate inflicts Wind Affliction independently, stacking the resistance reduction. The sixth count of Jiwon's Divine Harmony buff also reduces Esther's Stamina consumption by 50%, which matters for the animation cancel technique described below. Bonnie triggers Resonance on enemies, amplifying incoming damage before Esther lands her enhanced hits.

Flare's Ultimate DEF reduction is particularly strong here. Francis handles healing and debuffing based on her ATK stat, replacing Bonnie when you need more sustain.

Sangun fills in when Jiwon is unavailable. His crowd control Switch Ability pulls enemies to a point, which you follow with Esther's Dust Cloud. Both act as Wind damage dealers, covering each other during cooldown windows.

How to play Esther: rotation and animation cancel

Core rotation

  1. Enter combat and trigger Plains Minotaur's Wind resistance reduction.
  2. Activate Housekeeping! to create the Dust Cloud and inflict Confused on nearby enemies.
  3. Execute the full enhanced Basic Attack chain inside the cloud, prioritizing the 3rd hit for its 218.4% multiplier.
  4. Use the Ultimate Skill inside the cloud to hit Wind Affliction and the ATK passive simultaneously.
  5. When the cloud expires, switch to your Sub-DPS or Support. This activates Esther's Ambush via Taking Out the Trash, dealing off-field Wind DMG while the cooldown resets.

Animation cancel technique

Esther's 3rd enhanced hit involves a sheathing animation that briefly locks her movement. To cancel it, press the dodge button the moment the 3rd attack begins, then immediately input a Basic Attack. The attack's damage still registers, but the sheathing animation is skipped, letting Esther reposition or continue attacking without the delay.

This technique is most effective with Jiwon on the team. Her Divine Harmony buff at 6 stacks cuts Esther's Stamina cost by 50%, giving you enough Stamina to dodge-cancel repeatedly without running dry.

What are the best awakenings for Esther?

Awakenings are where Esther's power really compounds. Prioritize them in this order:

Loading table...

A2 is the single most impactful upgrade. The Dust Cloud range expansion means enemies are more likely to stay inside it, and the 50% damage bonus inside the cloud applies directly to her enhanced Basic Attack chain. A1 extends the Confused status by triggering a fresh cloud on her Switch Skill, which keeps enemies disoriented during the off-field window. A6 is a late-game priority that doubles down on her core damage source.

How to get Esther

Esther is available on the Maid & Clover Mascot limited banner, which runs from April 15 to May 5, 2026 (20 days). Pull using Compass of Destiny or Primordial Stars. According to community documentation, pity carries over between limited banners, so pulls spent on Esther's banner count toward the hard pity on the next limited unit.

If you already have strong Wind coverage from your free 5-star selector, particularly Flare if you are targeting boss content, the upcoming units Mina and Nara may be worth saving for. But if you need a Wind carry right now, Esther is a high-priority pull with clear strengths across mob clearing, boss damage, and off-field contribution.

Esther character profile

Esther works at the Maid & Clover Inn and spends most of her day with a broom in hand. She does not offer warm welcomes or small talk. Multiple sources note that her broom technique reads as hostile to anyone paying attention, and they are correct to notice.
