WoW: Midnight Interview – Prey System ...

Mount collecting in World of Warcraft: Midnight is one of the richest it has ever been, with over 50 new mounts spread across every corner of Quel'Thalas and beyond. Whether you prefer grinding rare spawns, pushing Mythic keys, or building Renown with the new factions, Patch 12.0 has a mount path designed for you. This guide breaks down every confirmed mount in Midnight, organized by source, so you can plan your farming routes and never miss a single one.

What Mount Categories Exist in WoW Midnight?

Midnight organizes its mounts across eight distinct source categories: Delves, Prey content, Dungeons and Raids, PvP, Achievements, Professions, Open World, and Renown/Reputation. Each category demands a different playstyle, so collectors who want everything will need to engage with nearly all of the expansion's systems. Here is a quick breakdown of what to expect from each:

How Do You Get Open World and Exploration Mounts?

Open world mounts in Midnight range from straightforward rare mob kills to multi-step puzzles that require reading the environment carefully. Several zones each have their own rare spawn pools.

Eversong Woods and Zul'Aman Rares

The Cerulean Hawkstrider and Cobalt Dragonhawk both drop from rare mobs scattered across Eversong Woods. Over in Zul'Aman, the Amani Sharptalon and Escaped Witherbark Pango follow the same pattern: find the rare, kill it, hope the RNG cooperates. These are purely luck-based, so tag them on every reset.

Harandar and Voidstorm Rares

Harandar yields the Rootstalker Grimlynx and Vibrant Petalwing from its rare pool, while Voidstorm offers the Augmented Stormray and Sanguine Harrower. None of these require special unlock conditions beyond finding and defeating the spawns.

Treasure and Puzzle Mounts

Several open world mounts are tied to hidden treasures or environmental puzzles rather than combat drops:

  • Ancestral War Bear: Start at the Honored Warrior's Cache inside a tree trunk at coordinates (46.83, 81.86) in Zul'Aman. Interact to receive a buff, then defeat the chosen warriors at four separate Honored Warrior's Urns: Nalorakk's Chosen (32.67, 83.51), Halazzi's Chosen (34.56, 33.46), Jan'alai's Chosen (54.75, 22.39), and Akil'zon's Chosen (51.55, 84.88). Return the collected items to the Cache to claim the bear.
  • Hexed Vilefeather Eagle: Collect 1,000 Vile Essence from elites in Zul'Aman and bring it to the Abandoned Ritual Skull at (44.72, 44.10).
  • Ruddy Sporeglider: Gather 150 Crystalized Resin Fragments (described as Flame-Hardened Sap of Teldrassil) from the lake at (40.0, 21.4), then deliver them to the Peculiar Cauldron at (40.7, 28.1).
  • Reins of the Insatiable Shredclaw: Head to (49.70, 77.68) in Voidstorm and enter the cave. Navigate a circle-gap puzzle, progressing through each ring until you reach a large egg at the center. Loot it for the mount.
  • Echo of Aln'sharan: Spend 500 Mysterious Skyshards to summon Aln'sharan to Kuri at (66.15, 25.47) in Harandar. The mount drops from the summoned boss.
  • Untainted Grove Crawler: Drops from Sporespawned Caches in Harandar.

How Do You Get Renown and Reputation Mounts?

Four major factions in Midnight each offer two purchasable mounts gated behind Renown 17 and Renown 19 respectively. All of them are purchased with Voidlight Marl, the expansion's primary faction currency.

Beyond the standard Renown vendors, the Hara'ti faction offers two additional mounts through Mothkeeper Wew'tam: the Vivid Chloroceros (requires catching 50 Glowing Moths) and the Elder Glowmite (requires catching 120 Glowing Moths). Both cost 10 Luminous Dust at the vendor located at (49.2, 54.4).

The Umbral Dragonhawk from Silvermoon Court requires completing the Life of the Party achievement, which involves maxing relationships with all subfactions of Saltheril's Soiree. It is a time investment, but not an extreme one.

For the Slayer's Duellum reputation, reaching Exalted unlocks both the Frenzied Shredclaw and Prowling Shredclaw for 6,000 Voidlight Marl each. Push further to Paragon status and you gain access to the Slayer's Duellum Trove, which has a chance to contain the Duskbrute Harrower.

How Do You Get Dungeon and Raid Mounts?

Dungeon Mounts

Two Mythic+ mounts are available from dungeons in Season 1. The Lucent Hawkstrider drops from Magister's Terrace on Mythic or Mythic+ difficulty. The Spectral Hawkstrider drops from the Restless Heart boss inside Windrunner Spire Mythic+. Both are random drops, so consistent weekly clears are your best strategy.

For Delve collectors, the Arcanovoid Construct is the reward for the Let Me Solo Him: Nullaeus achievement. The Elven Arcane Guardian costs 10,000 Undercoins from vendor Naleidea Rivergleam in Silvermoon, while the Silvermoon's Arcane Defender costs the same amount from Telemancer Astrandis but requires Delver's Journey Rank 5 first. The Delve path also offers the Giganto Mantis from the Glory of the Midnight Delver achievement.

Raid Mounts

The crown jewel of Midnight raid collecting is the Ashes of Belo'ren, which drops from the Midnight Falls boss on Mythic difficulty in the March on Quel'Danas raid. The Tenebrous Harrower is the meta-achievement mount for Glory of the Midnight Raider, rewarding players who complete a full checklist of raid feats.

What PvP Mounts Are Available in Midnight Season 1?

Midnight Season 1 PvP launched the week of March 17, 2026, roughly two weeks after the expansion itself went live on March 2, 2026. The PvP mount ladder has options for casual and hardcore players alike.

Vicious Snaplizard

The Vicious Snaplizard is the standard seasonal mount available to both Alliance and Horde. It is earned by filling the Season Rewards bar through rated wins at 1,000 rating (Combatant) or higher. All rated modes contribute: Arena, Solo Shuffle, and Battleground Blitz. Fill the bar once for the mount, fill it again for a Vicious Saddle.

Galactic Gladiator's Goredrake

This is the prestige mount of the season. To earn it, you need to reach 2,400 rating in 3v3 Arena and then win 50 additional 3v3 matches at Elite rank. It is exclusive to the 3v3 bracket, the title is season-only, but the mount is permanent.

Keystone Mounts

For Mythic+ enthusiasts, two additional mounts are tied to Keystone achievements: the Calamitous Carrion from Midnight Keystone Master: Season One and the Convalescent Carrion from Midnight Keystone Legend: Season One. These are time-limited to the current season, so do not delay.

How Do You Get Achievement and Quest Mounts?

Several mounts in Midnight reward players who engage with exploration, story content, and collection systems:

  • Crimson Dragonhawk: Complete the Midnight Glyph Hunter achievement by finding all Skyriding Glyphs across the new zones.
  • Ivory Grimlynx: Automatically granted upon unlocking the Haranir Allied Race.
  • Brilliant Petalwing: Earned from the Light Up the Night achievement.
  • Lab-grown Stormray: Complete Staring Into The Void.
  • Vivacious Chloroceros: Finish the Treasures of Harandar achievement.
  • Anu'shalla, Shadow's Guidance: Earned from the Insurmountable Collection achievement, rewarding dedicated mount collectors.
  • Relinquished Scarlet Charger: Quest reward from Relinquishing Relics.
  • Emerald Hawkstrider: Quest reward from The Battle of the Bridge.
  • Peridot Dragonhawk: Quest reward from From Darkness, Light.

World Events and Profession Mounts

Two limited-time World Event mounts come from the Abundance event. The Amani Sunfeather and Blessed Amani Burrower each cost 1,600 Unalloyed Abundance during the event itself, but vendor Chel the Chip sells both for 6,400 Unalloyed Abundance outside of the active event window. Stock up on currency when the event is live to save significantly.

The Reins of the Contained Stormarion Defender has a chance to drop from the Victorious Stormarion Cache during the Stormarion Assault World Event. This one is purely luck-based.

For the profession crowd, the Nether-Swept Drake is obtained by fishing in Oceanic Vortices within the Voidstorm zone. Notably, this mount does not require a specific Fishing level, special lures, or any fishing gear, making it one of the more accessible rare mounts for players who enjoy the profession casually.

Prey System Mounts

The Prey content system in Midnight has its own dedicated mount track. The Preyseeker's Hubris requires reaching Preyseeker's Journey Rank 5 and costs 2,000 Remnant of Anguish from vendor Construct V'anore. The Preyseeker's Wrath requires Rank 10 on the same journey for the same currency cost. A third mount, the Preyseeker's Nightmare, is earned by completing the Prey: Nightmare Mode III achievement, pushing the Prey system to its hardest difficulty tier.
