Normal and Heroic
Expect sustained, compounding pressure rather than random one-shot mechanics. Healers need to stay ahead of steady chip damage, because the real danger is two "small" mechanics overlapping after 40 seconds of quiet bleeding. Positioning discipline matters more here than in recent tiers: Voidstorm-themed encounters lean heavily on overlapping ground zones, reduced visibility, and movement checks that punish players who drift or panic-dodge at the last second.
Normal lets you push through some of this with gear. Heroic will punish sloppy spacing even when nobody makes a catastrophic mistake. The key skill isn't raw damage output. It's maintaining your rotation while the floor tells you to move.
Mythic

What Gear Does Mythic+ Drop in Midnight Season 1?

Slayer's Rise is a new epic battleground set in the Voidstorm zone, built around the large-scale format of Alterac Valley and Isle of Conquest. Two teams of 40 push from opposite sides of the map toward a central control point, then down a lane toward the enemy base, destroying defenses, eliminating key NPCs, and recruiting neutral forces along the way.
What makes it distinct from older epic battlegrounds is its dual function as an outdoor World PvP hotspot within the actual Voidstorm zone. PvP vendors, War Mode objectives, and World Quests all exist in the outdoor section, so engagement with this area extends beyond structured queues.
Diminishing Returns Rework
The DR system received a significant overhaul. Full immunity now triggers after two applications of the same crowd control category instead of three, and the reset window shortened from 18 to 16 seconds. Micro-CC abilities like Fel Eruption and Blast Wave have been pruned. The result: scripted perma-lock strategies are effectively dead, and control windows are shorter and more deliberate.
