YAPYAP is one of those co-op “friendslop” games that makes way more sense once you’ve played a few runs. It’s similar to Lethal Company and Repo, but with a big twist. Instead of collecting loot, you’re trying to hit a destruction quota by building Chaos points, then escaping before time runs out.
If you’re getting started and the game feels confusing, these are the best YAPYAP tips and tricks to help you survive, earn more Gold, and actually finish runs without throwing away progress.
Sell Everything Early for Fast Gold
Gold is the most important currency in YAPYAP. You need it to unlock better wands and expand your spell options, but early runs usually don’t pay enough on their own.
After finishing your first full run, the Potions Room opens in the hub. It’s filled with starter potions and brewing materials. The best beginner move is to grab all of it and sell it.
This gives you a big Gold boost early, which helps a lot if you die and need to rebuild your loadout.
Burning Is the Easiest Way to Farm Chaos Points
If you’re struggling to hit quota, stop trying to smash everything manually. Burning is one of the fastest ways to stack Chaos points.
Flammable objects like boxes, furniture, and clutter can be set on fire quickly, and the Chaos gain adds up fast.
The easiest ways to do this are:
Buying a torch from the shop (if it appears)
Using a candelabra found in the level
A torch is the better option since it’s easier to control. But a candelabra works fine if you need a backup.
Always Know Where Extraction Is
Extraction is what makes or breaks a run in YAPYAP.
You’ll always find a tall structure with purple flames in the sky. That’s the extraction tower. Reaching it before the timer ends is the difference between keeping your Chaos progress and getting hit with penalties.
This is even more important in co-op. If multiple players fail to extract, the team takes a quota penalty, and that can undo a lot of work.
A good habit is checking your surroundings early and mentally tracking how to get back to extraction once the run gets messy.

Keep the Wand of Wind (Even Later)
The Wand of Wind is the starter wand, and it’s still one of the most useful wands in YAPYAP.
It’s not the most powerful, but it has low cooldowns and a great set of utility spells. That makes it perfect for both Chaos farming and survival.
Some of the best spells on it include:
Aero for quick damage and knockback
Tempest for area destruction and pushing enemies away
Up-Dog for movement and escaping danger
Even when you unlock stronger wands, keeping the Wand of Wind as a backup is a smart play.

Use the Grimoire to Find Secret Spells
Not every spell is shown in the wand spell list.
To find Secret Spells, head into the house in the hub, go upstairs, and check the Grimoire book on the left side.
It gives hints for what needs to be said and what the spell does. Any time you find a new wand, it’s worth checking the Grimoire again.
Secret spells can give you extra tools for mobility, combat, and Chaos generation, depending on the wand.
Assign Roles in Co-Op
YAPYAP is chaotic in a group, but co-op runs go way smoother when the team stops doing the same thing.
A simple setup works best:
One player focuses on destruction and Chaos farming
One player plays safer and focuses on survival tools
One player handles monsters and keeps threats away
Gold is shared across the squad, so it also helps to coordinate purchases instead of everyone buying random stuff.
Solo Players Should Avoid Fights
YAPYAP can be played solo, but it’s not the same game.
In single player, fighting enemies is rarely worth it. The goal is still to raise Chaos and meet quota, but you’ll want to do it quietly and safely.
The best solo strategy is:
Farm Chaos through destruction and burning
Avoid monsters whenever possible
Carry at least one wand that helps you escape
If you get trapped in a fight, having a mobility spell or a panic option can save your run.
Contracts Are Free Bonus Chaos
Contracts are one of the easiest ways to hit quota, especially early on.
You start each quota set with three contracts, and they reward extra Chaos for completing objectives during a run.
Some contracts are simple, like burning certain objects. Others require specific wand spells, like turning monsters into fish.
You can also find extra contract scrolls inside the level. Picking them up gives you another objective and another Chaos reward.
If you’re behind on quota, contracts are usually the fastest way to catch up.
Watch the Timer
When the timer hits zero, the game triggers a deadly ghost event. It’s basically an instant run-ender if you’re still inside the level.
The best rule is simple.
If the timer is getting low, stop trying to squeeze in extra Chaos and start heading to extraction. YAPYAP punishes greed hard, especially if you’re carrying a strong wand or a lot of progress.
YAPYAP is a game where surviving is part of the score.
Breaking things is important, but extracting is what keeps your run from becoming a waste. If you’re ever choosing between one more Chaos push or getting out safely, extraction is usually the better choice. That one habit alone makes YAPYAP way easier.
