The Unleash the Force quest line in Fortnite Star Wars Droid Tycoon has a few missions that trip players up, and the blueprint-stealing task is probably the most confusing one. The mechanic isn't something you stumble into naturally, and the game doesn't explain it well. Here's exactly what counts, where to look, and how to finish it without getting into unnecessary fights.
What does "steal Droid Blueprints" actually mean?
The quest wording throws a lot of players off. Stealing a Droid Blueprint doesn't require pickpocketing anyone or using a special ability. You need to find a Blueprint that another player dropped or purchased, pick it up off the ground, and then build it yourself. Any Blueprint you didn't personally buy counts as stolen once you construct it.
There's a separate but related quest that asks you to steal or purchase a total of 10 Droid Blueprints. That version is more flexible: you can buy all 10 yourself, grab all 10 from the ground, or mix both methods to hit the total. The pure "steal" version requires Blueprints you didn't pay for.
Where to find dropped Droid Blueprints
The Sandcrawler is the spot. This is where players tend to buy Blueprints and, for various reasons, end up dropping them. Two situations create most of the Blueprint drops you'll find:
- Generous high-level players who have stockpiled Credits will sometimes buy quality Blueprints and drop them for others nearby. Players deep into Rebirth progression tend to do this more often.
- Players who change their mind after a purchase will drop the Blueprint near the Sandcrawler rather than waste it.
Check the ground around the Sandcrawler consistently throughout the match. Blueprints don't announce themselves, so a quick sweep of the area every few minutes pays off.
Don't just check once at the start of the match. Blueprint drops happen throughout the session as players buy, reconsider, or actively try to help others. Return to the Sandcrawler area regularly.
Should you fight other players for Blueprints?
Technically, you can shoot a player who just bought a Blueprint, grab it when they drop it, and that counts. In practice, this is a bad idea for two reasons. First, you might lose the fight and get nothing. Second, most players in Droid Tycoon are cooperative rather than competitive, and starting fights disrupts the experience for everyone.
Stick to picking up dropped Blueprints. The supply is reliable enough that you don't need to resort to combat.

How to complete the quest fast with a friend
If you have a friend who plays Fortnite, this is the fastest method available. Load into the same Droid Tycoon match together, then coordinate as follows:
- Your friend buys any Droid Blueprint at the Sandcrawler.
- They drop it on the ground.
- You pick it up and build it. That counts as a steal.
- Swap roles so your friend gets credit too.
This method removes all the luck from the equation. You're not waiting for strangers to drop Blueprints; you're manufacturing the drops yourself. This is the most reliable way to complete the mission.
Both players need to be in the same match for this to work. Coordinating in a party before loading in is the safest way to guarantee you end up in the same session.

Sandcrawler is the key location
The 10-Blueprint quest is part of the broader Unleash the Force event quest chain. Completing it contributes toward the event's reward track, so it's worth finishing even if it takes a couple of sessions.
What to do after completing the blueprint quests
Once you've checked this quest off, there's plenty more to work through in Droid Tycoon. Getting the right droids into your roster is the next priority. If you're still tracking down specific units, the guide to getting a BB in Droid Tycoon covers spawn methods and how to improve your chances, while the Groundmech acquisition guide explains why that particular droid is worth prioritizing and how to find one faster.
For everything else in the mode, the full Fortnite strategy guide collection has you covered on Rebirth requirements, upgrade costs, and the rest of the event quest chain
