You can earn Defy Destiny in one playthrough on any setting, provided you protect the side quests and reach the true ending. Budget about 40-45 hours, with cleanup covering optional bosses, Tempering, and collection targets. Start making manual saves early, finish Yu’er’s requests before their boss cutoffs, and leave New Game+ until you have checked your remaining trophies.
How should you plan your trophy run?
The PS5 Platinum route contains 36 trophies: 1 Platinum, 3 Gold, 14 Silver, and 18 Bronze. Steam also includes additional chapter milestones and combat-action achievements, so PC players have extra tasks beyond the Platinum roadmap.

You do not need every collectible for the Platinum. Your main collection targets are 30 accessories and 10 complete Memory Flowers, alongside the equipment upgrade and Tempering requirements.
Which quests can you miss?
Open the Journal whenever you enter a new region and check for quests marked red as failed. Reload a suitable manual save immediately if that happens. Completing the main story does not repair a failed side quest.

How do you protect Yu’er’s quest chain?
The Healer’s Legacy requires all three of Yu’er’s quests in the same playthrough. Handle her requests as soon as they become available:
- Flesh Lily: Defeat Hua, the Bride, beneath the Valley Sha-Chi Tower, collect the flower in her arena, and deliver it to Yu’er at the Outpost Bell. Do this before defeating Bai Chilian.
- Apprentice Healer: Collect the three marked herbs and return them before defeating Jing Ye, the Outlaw, in Crimson Forest.
- A Healer’s Mercy: Speak with Yu’er near the Thieves’ Camp Bell, choose the second dialogue option, and deliver medicine to all four thieves before defeating Bai Chilian.
One thief is behind a locked door in the Thieves’ Camp. The required dungeon key is beneath the lodge cellar near the Cliffside Lodge Bell. Finish the chain’s later Flesh Lily interaction at Yu’er’s home in Pangzhen after defeating Chang Hong, the Thunder Spear.

How do you finish the Baishan quest safely?
Accept the quest from Lanlan on the large bridge near the Thieves’ Camp before fighting Bai Chilian. At Cliffside Lodge, collect the Crimson Forest Cellar Crank, open the cellar, and drop onto the plank between the platforms to collect the Crimson Forest Secret Chamber Crank. Use it on the sealed door below and speak with the girl inside.
Next, visit The Confinement Bell in Mandate Encampment and defeat Wu Lengshuang, the Soft Sword. Continue along the path and inspect the body among the flowers before progressing to Yubi. Missing that inspection can fail the quest.
Where do the other early quest chains continue?
For Spectral Blade, deliver the first Primal Stone to the Shadow Warden at the Valley Sha-Chi Tower Summit. Continue his requests at the Pangzhen Sha-Chi Tower and, after Mirage Estate, at the tower reached through the frozen section of Crimson Forest. You need all three stone deliveries.
In Pangzhen, use Flame Mane to open the route to Old Man Gen’s house, collect the Comb, and return it to him. For Young Master Lan, receive his mansion key, rest at a Bell, return to clear the enemies, speak with him again, and enter the manor.
How do you unlock the true ending?
With Heart and Blood requires the perfect ending. Complete every quest marked with a purple sword icon. When the story directs you toward Mirage Estate through the Green Serpent House in Pangzhen, review this checklist:

Read each encounter’s opening hint because the fights have specific gimmicks.
Find all five Long Pillars
Secrets at the Heart of the Lake involves four marked scarecrows and the associated Acolyte fights. Completing it earns Forbidden Arts Beneath the Lake and advances the ending requirements.
Finish outstanding requirements before triggering the ending at Mount Soulrend. Keep the complete true-ending requirements nearby for the linked quest objectives rather than relying on the main-story marker alone.
Which boss trophies require a detour?
The main route covers Peng Meng, the Hunt, Hua Qianxiao, Bai Chilian, Mu Xiaokui, Flame, Lei Dang, the Saw and the Crusher, and Meng Hua. Three Wardens Fall also follows the mandatory route. Optional encounters and grouped boss trophies need more attention.

For Master of the Misty Waters, defeat the Meigu Lake version of You Loong. His Pangzhen encounter does not satisfy that requirement. For The Four Freed, Yuzan and Yuding are story encounters, while Yubi is in Mandate Encampment. Yucong belongs to Triple Threat, which continues across Crimson Forest’s frozen lake late in the game.
Defeating Hua, the Bride, before the Hunt also gives you a useful weapon matchup. Her Scarlet Wraithblade leaves Red Spider Lilies through its triangle combos, slowing enemies and draining Sha-Chi. Against Flame, a Flameward +1 accessory reduces incoming fire damage by 60%.
How do upgrades and Tempering trophies work?
Forge unlocks normal equipment upgrades in Weeping Creek Valley, after which you can upgrade at Bells. Myst unlocks Soul Tempering in Pangzhen. These are separate systems: reaching Level 30 does not replace the requirement to Temper equipment.

Listen to Every Flower counts complete flowers, not individual petals. Each flower requires two to six petals. Accessories have more room for missed pickups: over 60 are available, while Collector’s Notes asks for 30.
Use the main weapon locations and unlock requirements to expand your options for A Tempered Ten. Reforge refunds normal upgrade materials without penalty, so you can move that investment when changing your main weapon.
What else should Steam players track?
Beyond the Platinum route, track the extra chapter milestones, Complete Mastery for collecting 10 Sha-Chi Ambers, Leave No Stone Unturned for collecting 10 Blackstones, and Unsung Legend for completing the Enemy Journal.

Post-story free-roam lets you revisit regions for remaining collectibles and unfinished non-missable quests. Two longer cleanup tasks deserve their own check:
- Lost and Found: Rescue Quick Hand Zhang near the Trail of Cages Bell, then return his requested treasures at his hideouts in Crimson Forest, Village of Lu, Pangzhen, Meigu Lake, and Mirage Estate.
- Even Trees Know Sorrow: Complete all five Human-Faced Banyan Tree challenges. They are in Crimson Forest, Pangzhen, Mandate Encampment, Meigu Lake, and Mountain of Imprisonment. Failed attempts resume at the wave where you died.
