The Blastpoint update for Battlefield 6 is live today, and EA has paired it with a free trial giving anyone who hasn't bought in yet a chance to jump in at no cost. The window closes on June 15, so the clock is already ticking.
What the Blastpoint update actually adds
The headline addition is Cairo Bazaar, a reworked version of Battlefield 3's Grand Bazaar. The original map was a fan favourite for a reason: tight corridors, constant contact, nowhere to hide. This season 3 version keeps that DNA intact while updating the visuals, audio, and encounter flow to fit Battlefield 6's current systems. Expect ambushes around every corner and gunfights that start before you've even finished spawning.
It's the second classic location to land in season 3. Railway to Golmud, which dropped last month, is a Battlefield 4 throwback and currently holds the title of the largest map in Battlefield 6 to date. Two remakes in one season is a clear signal that EA is leaning into nostalgia as a hook, and based on how well-regarded both source maps are, that's not a bad bet.
Obliteration returns as a 32v32 mode
The other major addition is Obliteration, the returning mode that Battlefield 4 players will remember fondly. Here it arrives as a 32v32 format, which EA describes as a more strategic and tightly contested variant compared to the series' larger-scale modes. The objective-focused structure forces coordinated play rather than lone-wolf runs, which should give Battlefield 6's team-play mechanics room to breathe.
Beyond Obliteration, the update also introduces Battle Royale Solos and the PP-19 SMG, rounding out what is a fairly substantial content drop for a mid-season patch.

The free trial window and what it covers
Here's the thing: the free trial isn't a limited demo or a stripped-back preview. EA's framing positions it as access to the full season 3 experience, including Cairo Bazaar, Railway to Golmud, and the new modes. For players who bounced off Battlefield 2042 before the franchise reset, this is a low-friction way to see how far things have come.
The trial runs until June 15, which gives you roughly five days from today. That's enough time to get a proper read on the new map and Obliteration before committing to a purchase. If you're new to the game entirely, the beginner tips guide covers the movement mechanics and weapon meta you'll want to understand before dropping into a 32v32 lobby.
Progress and unlocks earned during the trial period carry over if you decide to buy, which removes the main friction point that usually makes free trials feel pointless.
What comes next for season 3
