Best PS5 Deals ...

Australian PlayStation fans are sitting on one of the better buying windows in recent memory. Retailers including JB Hi-Fi, EB Games, Harvey Norman, and Amazon Australia have been running overlapping sales cycles that push PS5 game prices well below their usual launch-day highs, and a handful of accessories are hitting prices that genuinely make sense for anyone who has been holding off.

Where the real savings are showing up

Here's the thing: the biggest discounts right now are not on the blockbuster titles that launched last month. The value is sitting in the 12-to-18-month-old window, where games like God of War Ragnarok, Spider-Man 2, and Horizon Forbidden West have dropped to roughly half their original prices at physical and digital retail. Spider-Man 2, which launched at the equivalent of around $90 in USD terms, is now regularly available for around $45 to $50 across competing storefronts.

The PlayStation Store itself has been running regional sales with up to 60% off select titles, and the selection skews heavily toward PS4/PS5 cross-gen titles, which is genuinely useful if you are still on older hardware or want to build out a library without committing to full next-gen prices.

PlayStation Plus subscribers in Australia get an additional discount layer on top of standard sale prices on the PS Store. If you are not subscribed, the gap between member and non-member pricing on some titles runs to 15-20%, which can close the gap between digital and physical retail fast.

The accessories worth paying attention to

Controller pricing has been a consistent sore spot for Australian buyers, with the DualSense typically sitting at a significant markup compared to US pricing. That gap has narrowed recently. Third-party sellers on Amazon Australia and direct Sony promotions have pushed standard DualSense colours down to around $90 to $95 USD equivalent, with the DualSense Edge occasionally appearing in bundle deals that bring its effective cost closer to what you would pay importing.

Headset deals are also worth watching. The Pulse 3D wireless headset has appeared at around $75 USD equivalent at JB Hi-Fi, which is one of the lower prices it has hit outside of Black Friday. The Pulse Explore earbuds, Sony's more recent wireless option with lossless audio support, are still holding close to full price but have appeared in occasional bundle configurations with PS5 console packages.

The hidden gems Australian buyers keep overlooking

What most players miss is the back catalogue sitting in the $15 to $30 USD equivalent range. Games like Returnal, Demon's Souls, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, and Deathloop have all hit these price points at various retailers in recent weeks. Returnal in particular, which launched at a premium and was divisive purely because of that price, plays completely differently when you are not paying full freight for it.

Physical media is also doing something interesting in Australia right now. Because local retailers are competing aggressively with digital storefronts, pre-owned PS5 games at EB Games are coming in 20 to 30% cheaper than their digital equivalents on sale. That arbitrage window does not last forever, but it is real right now.

PS5 console bundles and what they actually include

Bundle pricing in Australia has been more competitive than standalone console pricing for the better part of the past year. The standard PS5 Slim disc edition has appeared in bundles with two games and an extra controller at a combined price that works out to roughly $50 to $70 USD equivalent savings over buying each item separately. The key here is checking whether the included games are titles you actually want, because some bundles pad out with older or lower-demand titles.

The PS5 Pro is still holding close to its launch price with minimal discounting, which tracks with Sony's typical premium hardware cycle. If you are not specifically chasing the upgraded GPU performance and improved PSSR upscaling, the standard PS5 Slim remains the smarter buy at current Australian pricing.

The deals cycle shifts week to week, so checking gaming guides for updated pricing intel before committing to a purchase is worth the extra five minutes.
