The Trophy lists for the upcoming Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 PlayStation re-releases have appeared online, and they are already telling a story that long-time fans won't love. Several beloved modes and features from the originals appear to have been left behind.
For context, Trophy lists typically surface a few days before a game goes live, which means these ports are likely close to dropping on PS4 and PS5. But the lists themselves carry some unwelcome news.
What the Trophy lists reveal about missing content
The clearest signal comes from Black Ops 1. Two Trophies that existed in the original game are absent from the re-release list. The first is 'In The Money,' which required players to win five Wager Matches. That playlist included fan-favourite side modes like Gun Game and One in the Chamber, where players wagered CoD Points (the original in-game currency, not the microtransaction kind) for each round. No Trophy, no Wager Matches. And if Wager Matches are gone, Gun Game and One in the Chamber may be gone with them, though it is possible those modes exist elsewhere in the game outside of that playlist.
The second missing Trophy is 'Date Night,' earned by inviting a friend to watch a clip in Theater Mode. That feature was genuinely ahead of its time: it recorded full match replays and let players switch between different points of view, edit footage, and export clips. Losing it in a 2026 re-release feels like a step backwards, especially given how many modern games now offer built-in capture tools.
Black Ops 2 loses less on paper but still takes a hit. The 'Big Leagues' Trophy, which required winning five matches in League Play (the game's dedicated competitive playlist), is missing. For casual players this won't sting much, but for anyone who remembers grinding ranked ladders back in the day, it's another cut.
The questions this raises beyond the Trophy list
Here's the thing: the missing Trophies have opened up a wider conversation about what else might not survive the port. Players are already asking whether the Emblem Editor, one of the most creatively expressive features in Black Ops history, will make it across. There is no Trophy-based evidence either way on that one yet, but the concern is understandable given what has already been flagged.
The bigger platform question is native PS5 support. When Activision announced these re-releases back in June, the company was clear that these are ports, not remasters. That framing suggests players should not expect DualSense haptics, 120Hz output, or other PS5-specific features. The ports landing on PS4 alongside PS5 reinforces that expectation.
Somewhat amusingly, someone has already unlocked the Platinum Trophy in both re-releases on PS4, which is only possible through console modding that bypasses security checks. Not something to try at home.
What this means heading into launch
For players coming from Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 who want to revisit the franchise's roots, these ports will still deliver the core campaigns and multiplayer that made the originals memorable. But stripped of Wager Matches, Theater Mode, and League Play, they are not the complete packages fans might have hoped for.
The key here is managing expectations before launch. These are ports built for accessibility and availability, not definitive editions. If Activision or the porting studio addresses the missing content before release, that would be worth watching. Until then, the Trophy lists are the clearest window into what players are actually getting.
