The Invincible VS hype train has been picking up speed for weeks, and developer Quarter Up just hit the throttle one final time. Conquest, the terrifyingly powerful and mentally unstable Viltrumite that fans have been demanding since the game was announced, is officially the last fighter joining the launch roster. The reveal landed dramatically during the Evo Awards, which is exactly the kind of stage a character like Conquest deserves.
For fans who have been following Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and other superhero titles closely, the arrival of a dedicated Invincible fighting game built around this caliber of character roster feels like a genuine moment for the genre.
What Conquest actually brings to the fight
Quarter Up describes Conquest as a striker built around applying "immense pressure" and punishing opponents who give him space. His signature move is a charging punch that accelerates the further it travels and gains super armor mid-charge. That combination of momentum and damage resistance is going to make him a nightmare to stop once he gets moving. The key here is that super armor mechanic: players who try to interrupt him mid-charge are going to eat a very bad time.
He rounds out an 18-fighter launch roster that now looks like this:
That is a genuinely stacked starting point for a new fighting game IP.
The first two DLC fighters are exactly who you'd hope for
Quarter Up had already confirmed a Year 1 DLC roadmap, but now the first two characters have names attached. The Immortal and Universa are coming post-launch.
The Immortal is a long-living warrior and one of the most recognizable faces in the Guardians of the Globe, so his inclusion makes complete sense. Universa, on the other hand, is a newer face for animated series fans, having debuted in Invincible Season 4. Quarter Up is keeping story details tight for anyone who hasn't watched yet, which is the right call.
