Supergiant Games has been moving fast since Hades II's Post-Launch Patch 2 dropped. Last week, PC players got Hotfix 1 on April 16. Now Hotfix 2 has also landed on PC, and console players on Switch 1 and Switch 2 are next in line.
The studio confirmed the news via its official social media account: "We just released Hotfix 2 with various fixes and other minor changes to last week's Hades II patch! Console players, these improvements will be coming in a patch relatively soon. Thank you for playing and all your support!"
No exact date yet, but "relatively soon" from Supergiant typically means days, not weeks.
Dream Dives get a noticeable rebalance
The bulk of the gameplay changes target the Dream Dive mode specifically. Chronos and Unrivaled Chronos both have slightly reduced Life, and Charybdis Tentacles in the Unrivaled Scylla Encounter are also easier to deal with. The chance of Boons appearing in Shops inside Tartarus or the Summit has been increased when either region is your first or second stop, and Gold earnings from Encounters in those same regions have been nudged upward under the same conditions.
Here's the thing: these are targeted tweaks, not a wholesale rework. Supergiant is clearly responding to players finding Dream Dives in the early regions a bit lean on resources and a bit punishing against bosses.
The bug list is genuinely long
The fix list reads like a tour through some of the more obscure Boon interactions in the game. A few of the more impactful ones:
- Braid of Atlas (Charon) was not improving Cast damage for most Olympian Cast effects
- Hazard Boom (Icarus) was failing to deal damage to Melinoë as intended
- Proper Upbringing (Hera) kept applying its effect even after falling below the element requirement
- Anvil Ring (Hephaestus) was being interrupted by Death Defiance
- Moon Beam (Selene) sometimes failed to raise the likelihood of a Path of Stars when using Aspect of Selene if equipped between regions
- Shimmering Moonshot (Daedalus - Staff) was not boosting Omega Special damage as expected
- Vow of Void (Oath) was not persisting correctly after a Chaos Trial
There are also fixes for several multi-Boon interaction bugs, including a problematic chain between Cardio Gain (Hestia), Wave Flourish (Poseidon), and the Sister Blades.
The patch notes contain spoilers for Hades II's story content. If you're still working through the narrative, approach the full notes with caution.
Narrative and visual polish also in the mix
Beyond the mechanical fixes, Supergiant has addressed a handful of story-adjacent bugs that could break immersion or, in one case, block progression entirely. A specific instance where Hermes would not talk to Melinoë when expected, which could prevent entry to the final surface route battle, has been resolved. Several conversations with Moros and Hephaestus were also triggering at the wrong times.
On the visual side, the update resolves a letterbox artwork issue at certain resolutions, a Sprint lock triggered by closing the Steam Overlay, and some animation glitches tied to Aspect of Nergal (Axe) and Hecuba stun reactions. Portrait display errors when speaking to Persephone and Chronos during Dream Dives are also corrected.
The patch also fixes Melinoë confiding to Frinos about having had a rough night after a restful Dream Dive, which is a very specific and very Supergiant kind of bug to list in official patch notes.
What console players should know before the patch lands
If you play Hades II on Switch 1 or Switch 2, the Hotfix 2 changes are already confirmed and on their way. The PC version has had both hotfixes since mid-April, so the console build is catching up quickly. No specific date has been given, but Supergiant's post-launch support pace has been consistent.
Pro tip: if you're running a build that relies on Aspect of Selene or any of the Daedalus Staff upgrades, these fixes could meaningfully change how those setups perform once the patch lands.
