Marvel fans might want to start paying attention to Inde Navarrette. The breakout star of horror phenomenon Obsession has confirmed she met with Jake Schreier, the director behind Thunderbolts and the MCU's upcoming standalone X-Men film, and when asked point-blank whether she would star in a Marvel movie, her answer was simple: “I would.”

From $750,000 horror film to Marvel's radar
Here's the thing about Obsession: nobody saw it coming. The film, a horror story about a man who uses a supernatural object to force a woman's affection rather than simply pursuing her honestly, was made on a budget of just $750,000. It has since crossed $400 million at the global box office, making it one of the most profitable films of the decade so far. Navarrette's performance drove much of the buzz, with multiple scenes going viral and critics pointing to her as the main reason the film landed as hard as it did.
That kind of momentum gets you meetings. Navarrette confirmed she sat down with Schreier, and also with Michael Mann, who is currently deep in production on Heat 2. Two very different directors, two very different projects, and both are clearly interested in what she brings.
What Navarrette actually said
Navarrette was direct about her ambitions without overselling the moment. "I really want to prove that Obsession wasn't just lightning in a bottle," she said. "This is something that I really love and want to continue doing, but of course that's going to take time. I want people to take that time to trust that I have that capability."
That kind of measured confidence reads well. She is not announcing a deal or teasing a specific role. She is just making clear she is open, capable, and actively in the room with the right people.
The MCU X-Men project is still early in its development pipeline. Kevin Feige has publicly stated he wants the film to "start anew" rather than lean on the Fox-era continuity, and the writer attached to the project has expressed interest in spotlighting lesser-known mutants over the obvious Wolverine and Cyclops picks. That creative direction leaves a lot of casting possibilities open, which is exactly the kind of environment where a rising star with genuine dramatic range fits.
What's actually next for Navarrette
Before any Marvel project materializes, Navarrette will next appear in the thriller Invertigo, which just wrapped filming. That will be the real test of whether her dramatic instincts extend beyond the specific horror register that made Obsession work.
The MCU X-Men film is currently slated for sometime in 2028, which means casting conversations are likely just beginning in earnest. Schreier has a lot of ground to cover between now and then, and Navarrette has time to build her filmography before that window opens.
