Pikmin 4 Gets Free Update with New Content

Nintendo has released a free update for Pikmin™ 4, adding new features for both returning players and newcomers. The update introduces Decor Pikmin, a Field Camera for in-game photography, and two additional options for creature activity levels, allowing players to adjust the challenge of their expeditions.

Decor Pikmin Make Their Way Into the Game

Decor Pikmin, previously seen in the Pikmin Bloom mobile app, are now available in Pikmin 4. These Pikmin are recognizable by the various items they wear, such as wind-up toys, doughnuts, and seasonal hats. Players can collect Decor Pikmin during expeditions, and some of them can also be transferred to Pikmin Bloom, including a few new additions. The feature encourages exploration and adds a playful visual element to the squad of Pikmin players guide on the field.

In-Game Photography with the Field Camera

The update also adds a Field Camera, which allows players to take photos of their character, squad, and surroundings. Users can adjust camera angles, hide characters from the frame, and enhance images with filters, frames, and stamps. The camera functionality is not only for capturing moments but may also play a role in obtaining certain Decor Pikmin, adding an extra layer to the gameplay.

Customizable Creature Activity Levels

Pikmin 4 now includes two new creature activity modes to modify gameplay. Relaxed mode offers a more casual experience, where creatures will only attack if provoked. Fierce mode provides a higher level of challenge, with more aggressive creature behavior. Players can select these modes at the start of a new game or adjust them later in the settings menu, giving flexibility to match different play styles.

How to Update Pikmin 4

The update should install automatically, but players can manually check for it by highlighting the Pikmin 4 icon on the HOME Menu, pressing the + Button, and selecting Software Update while connected to the internet.
