Monster Hunter Stories 3 Wallpaper ...

Ryozo Tsujimoto had a clear message for players who've already torn through Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection: the real challenge is still coming. The Capcom producer shared a video update confirming a free content drop is on the way, and dropped a hint that the game's first paid story expansion could land sooner than anyone expected.

Where the game stands right now

Monster Hunter Stories 3 launched earlier this month across PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and PC as the third entry in Capcom's turn-based RPG spin-off series. The game first appeared during a Nintendo Direct broadcast on July 31, 2025, with Capcom locking in a 2026 release window shortly after the reveal.

Players have been working through the story and bonding with their Monstie companions since launch. The reception has been warm. But for many, the end-game question was already forming: what comes next once the credits roll?

Royal Monsters and what level 90 actually means

Tsujimoto's answer to that question is Royal Monsters, described as "extremely powerful" variants of existing creatures that will appear in the field as part of a free update targeting this summer. These aren't just reskinned fights. Tsujimoto specifically advised players to "prepare carefully and use their strongest Monsties and strategies" before engaging them, which is a producer's polite way of saying you will get wrecked if you walk in underprepared.

The level 90 Rider requirement is the key gating mechanic here. That's a meaningful bar to clear, and it signals Capcom is positioning Royal Monsters as genuine late-game content rather than a mid-story detour.

You need to reach Rider level 90 or above before Royal Monsters will be accessible. Don't expect to stumble into one during a casual playthrough.

What's interesting is the framing. Tsujimoto noted the development team felt "encouraged and energised" by player feedback since launch, and the Royal Monster update reads like a direct response to players who wanted harder fights. That feedback loop, from launch reception to free content, happening within weeks of release, is a good sign for how Capcom plans to support the game going forward.

The first story DLC might not be far off

The free update is only part of the news. Tsujimoto also addressed Additional Side Story: Rudy, the game's first paid story DLC, saying development is "currently progressing well." Well enough, in fact, that the team is "considering a potential earlier release date" than originally planned.

No concrete date was given. Tsujimoto closed with a request for patience, asking players to "bear with us for just a little longer" before more details arrive. Vague, yes, but the phrasing suggests the team is further along than the original schedule implied.

Capcom had already positioned Stories 3 as a title aimed at broadening the Monster Hunter audience, per the official Capcom investor release. Post-launch DLC support fits squarely into that strategy.

What players should be doing right now

If you're not at Rider level 90 yet, that's the immediate target. The summer window for Royal Monsters gives a rough runway, but "this summer" could mean anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. Getting your Monstie gene builds sorted and your Rider leveled up before the update drops means you'll be ready to test these fights the moment they go live.

For players already at the cap, the Additional Side Story: Rudy news is probably the more exciting headline. A potentially accelerated DLC release means new story content could arrive before the Royal Monster update even lands. Keep an eye on Capcom's official channels for the next announcement window.
