Nintendo dropped a new patch for Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream on June 25, 2026, bringing the game to Version 1.0.3. This is the third update since launch, following the Version 1.0.2 patch that arrived back in May, and it addresses a handful of bugs that were causing real headaches for players.
What was breaking before this patch
The most serious fixes here are the two progression blockers. One stopped the game dead if you tried to visit a Mii from the Mii List at the exact moment that character was boarding or leaving the Ferris wheel. Bad timing, frozen game. The other involved a rare money display glitch where receiving funds could cause the player's total balance to stop rendering correctly, which also locked progression.
A third crash bug was tied to satisfaction levels. Raising a Mii's satisfaction repeatedly could, on rare occasions, trigger an error and force the game to close entirely. That kind of thing is especially frustrating in a game built around nurturing your island residents.
The remaining fixes are less severe but still noticeable. The relationship day counter (tracking how long two Miis have been sweethearts or married) could display the wrong number. The camera had an overzealous zoom when giving a Mii a head rub. Some objects in Mii News and the photo studio occasionally failed to render. A clothing outfit recognition bug meant Miis could own every piece of a specific outfit and the game would still not register it as complete. Lingo taught to Miis sometimes wouldn't be spoken aloud in full.

Changes to local play
- Mii characters and other creations can no longer be sent via local play if the island name or player name contains numbers or text subject to display restrictions
The local play restriction explained
The one non-bug change in this patch is a restriction on local play sharing. If your island name or player name includes numbers or characters that fall under Nintendo's display restrictions, you won't be able to send Miis or other creations through local play. This is almost certainly a moderation measure to prevent restricted content from spreading between consoles through character names.
Here's the thing: for most players this won't change anything. The restriction only applies to names that were already flagging against Nintendo's content guidelines. If your island has a normal name, local play works exactly as it did before.
The progression blockers are the real wins here. A frozen game is never acceptable in a life sim where sessions can run long and saves don't always happen at convenient moments. Getting those squashed is the priority fix this update needed.
