Paradise Killer fans who enjoy open-world investigation games with strong mission structure will find a lot to appreciate in Killer Bean, but the two games play very differently. Killer Bean drops you into a fast-paced roguelike shooter where you play as a rogue assassin coffee bean taking down the Shadow Bean Agency across a hostile island. The game is currently in Early Access, and the main story runs across 9 missions from a plane crash prologue to a multi-phase final boss. This guide covers every objective, every boss, and the strategies that actually work.

How does the prologue set up the story?
The game opens with Killer Bean on a plane headed to a mysterious island. A missile strikes the plane mid-approach, sending Killer Bean and his car into the ocean. A stranger bean pulls him out, and after a brief conversation, Killer Bean explains his mission: take down the Shadow Beans. He gets pointed toward a boatman bean who becomes your mission handler for the rest of the game.
The target is the Super Mech, the Shadow Agency's mechanized fortress. Getting to it requires working through multiple missions to gather intelligence, gear up, and dismantle their operations piece by piece.

The mission starts with a crash
Mission 1: Finding the smuggler
Your first objective is locating a smuggler who supplies the Shadow Agency. Drive east from the landing point to reach the neighborhood. Look for the PC icon on your map, enter that building, and climb to the second floor to hack the device.
This first hack reveals additional hackable devices across the neighborhood. The one you need for the mission is the bottom-right device, which gives you the smuggler's location. The other devices are worth hitting too since they mark weapons, ammunition, and supplies on your map.
Once you have the smuggler's location (marked as a red zone), head there, kill him, and pick up his phone. This points you to a computer in the hideout. Hack it and defend the position while the connection establishes. After clearing the wave, head to the rooftop, deal with the armored enemy guarding the satellite, then hack it to finish the mission.
Visiting the shop between missions
After Mission 1, you unlock the ability to visit the city shop before each subsequent mission. Drive to the center of the city to access it. The shop stocks new weapons and upgrades purchasable with money or eggs. One important rule: do not shoot inside the shop or at the shopkeeper. Doing so triggers the security system and sends enemies after you.
Mission 2: Rescuing the Mech Designer
This mission sends you to an island occupied by mercenaries who have taken the Mech Designer prisoner. Start by clearing the small camp near your entry point and hacking its computer, which marks all hackable devices on the map.
For the mission objective, hack the device on the far east side of the map. This confirms the Mech Designer is held at the main facility in the center, but the facility is locked. The captain holding the access key is marked by the boatman. Kill him, grab the key, and head to the facility.
Inside, three flags need to be captured. Kill the enemies around each one and stand still until the flag turns red. Once all three are captured, you can access the cell on the top floor. Unlock it and escort the Mech Designer west toward the submarine.
Before leaving, pick up the Mech Designer's hard drive from the camp to the north (marked in yellow). Then helicopters arrive. RPGs are scattered around the map in yellow-marked locations. Getting closer to the helicopters before firing is more reliable than shooting from range since the RPG accuracy is inconsistent at distance.

Mission 3: Boss fight against Warlord
The Shadow Agency sends its first named boss after you. Warlord fights on an island littered with wrecked vehicles, which you can use as cover. Ammo crates are also scattered around, so keep an eye on those when you are running low.
Warlord fires missiles and periodically deploys drones that track and shoot you. The drones need to be destroyed as soon as they spawn so you can keep your attention on the main target. The Dive ability slows down time and is your most effective tool for landing clean shots on Warlord while avoiding his missiles.
Mission 4: Luring Toy Maker
This mission requires causing enough chaos on an island to draw out a Shadow Bean. You have three objective types:
Complete all three objective types and the island's Shadow Bean, Toy Maker, comes out to deal with you personally. His attack pattern involves sending explosive cars toward you, which you need to shoot before they make contact. The fight is straightforward compared to Warlord.
After defeating Toy Maker, pick up the transponder from his body and escape on his jet ski. The transponder lets you enter the Shadow Agency's base without triggering detection in a later mission.
Mission 5: Destroying the plasma fuel drill
The Shadow Agency drills for plasma fuel on a special island to power the Super Mech's defenses. Head to the center of the facility and climb the stairs to the main computer terminal. Hacking it tells you how to destroy the fuel supply.
A mech will hunt you down after the hack. Explosives work best against it, though regular weapons can work if you have enough ammunition. After destroying the mech, the real challenge appears: the Overseer, who wears surge armor that no weapon can penetrate directly.
To disable the surge armor, lure the Overseer near one of the power generators around the facility, then shoot the generator. This overloads the armor and leaves the Overseer vulnerable. After defeating him, climb to the walkway at the top of the facility, destroy the drones that intercept you, then navigate past the lasers to reach the control panel on the far side. Interacting with it overheats and destroys the drill.

Mission 6: Boss fight against B.O.S.
B.O.S. (Bean On A Stick) is a step up in difficulty from the previous bosses, so arrive at this fight with solid gear. His staff enables several distinct attacks:
- Spinning the staff to deliver sweeping melee strikes
- Waving the staff to fire projectiles
- Slamming the staff into the ground to create a shockwave
- Leaping into the air and crashing down with a staff strike
- The orb on the staff launches missiles periodically
Keep moving constantly and use the Dive ability to slow time when landing shots. Standing still against B.O.S. is a fast way to take heavy damage.
Mission 7: Boarding the Super Mech
This is your last chance to visit the shop before the endgame sequence. Stock up on everything.
The Super Mech is protected by two destroyers at its rear. Killer Bean's jet ski outpaces them, so ignore the destroyers and head straight for the bottom of the Super Mech. Turrets activate on arrival, but you do not need to engage them. Instead, move to the front of the mech and destroy the three objects there to lower the boarding bridge.
Climbing the Super Mech requires some navigation. From the base, head left and jump across, then look back for a staircase. Climb to the cannon platform, then jump again and look back for the second staircase leading to the top.
At the top, clear the beans and turrets guarding the back entrance. Before you reach it, Bullet Eyes blocks your path. This boss fires constant orbs that require active dodging. The Dive ability is essential here for slowing the orbs and creating clean windows to return fire. Defeating Bullet Eyes opens the back entrance to the Super Mech's interior.
Mission 8: Destroying the reactor core
Inside the Super Mech, the goal is destroying the reactor core, which is shielded. Disabling the shield requires overloading all four cooling towers.
Start by getting the Override Key from a desk in the Maintenance Room on the upper floor of the east wing. Use it on each of the four cooling towers in the reactor room. Then head to the control room on the upper floor of the west wing to activate remote hacking. Defend the position while the hack completes, destroy the mech war machine that appears afterward, then activate the power surge from the tower.
This disables the shield and reveals the core, but triggers the emergency defense system. Every enemy in the room now carries a shield generator linked to the core. Killing each one makes the remaining enemies stronger. You have to kill all of them before the core becomes vulnerable.
Repeat the entire process three times to fully destroy the core. Once it is about to explode, you need to escape immediately.

Mission 9: How to beat the Monitor (final boss)
The Monitor is the Shadow Agency's most powerful mech and the final boss of the game. It has three distinct phases.
Phase 1: The Monitor uses two guns, one firing standard bullets and one firing green projectiles. Use the cover in the arena to break line of sight after each attack window. The Monitor can also raise a protective shield and summon minions. Prioritize the minions before returning fire on the Monitor.
Phase 2: Two grenade launchers are added to the Monitor's shoulders alongside its existing guns. Four simultaneous damage sources mean you cannot stay in one spot. Keep moving constantly and use cover only to recover health, not to camp.
Phase 3: The Monitor transforms into a flying form with two tentacles. One tentacle ends in a mace head that slams into the ground, the other fires laser beams from a blue pyramid. The strategy stays the same: keep moving, shoot when you have a window, and use cover to recover when overwhelmed.
Ammo stashes are placed around the arena. Track their locations early in the fight so you know where to run when you are running low.
After the Monitor falls, the main story of Killer Bean's Early Access content is complete. More missions will likely arrive in future updates given the game's current status.
