Karolina "Kindred" Hayato is one of the most compelling agents you can bring on your final job in Zero Parades: For Dead Spies, filling the Astronomist role. Getting her on board takes more legwork than a simple conversation, though. Her personal quest, Bring Karolina's Dreams To Life, sends you across multiple locations and asks you to navigate several skill checks before she agrees to join. Here's exactly how to get it done.
What are the prerequisites for recruiting Karolina?
Before Karolina becomes available, you need to have completed two specific quests: Contact the Secret Prisoner and The Unassigned Assignment. Finishing both of these opens up the crew-assembly phase of the game, which is when personal recruitment quests like this one become active.
Once you've reached that point, seek out Dr. Hugo, Karolina's father, and ask him about his daughter's location. He'll tell you she's been living at the Old Quisach Cinema in the Quisach Roundabout area. The cinema won't appear on your map as accessible until after this conversation, so don't skip it.

Zero Parades: For Dead Spies Guide: How to Recruit Karolina
How to get past Septimus at the cinema
When you arrive at the Old Quisach Cinema, Septimus, Karolina's boyfriend, is standing in your way. He won't let you through without some convincing. You have two options here: pass a Dopplegang check or a Cold Read check. Either one works, so lean on whichever skill is higher in your build.
Past Septimus, you'll find Karolina connected to a machine that manages her dreams. She's unreachable while plugged in. Head back to Septimus and he'll point you to the console's Interface button. Press it to pull her out.
If both your Dopplegang and Cold Read skills are low going into this quest, consider spending time on skill-building activities before attempting the cinema. Failing checks here doesn't lock you out permanently, but it will complicate your path forward.
How to access Karolina's dreams
With Karolina awake, you can finally speak to her. Bring up the Weeping Eye interrogation in the conversation. To get her to open up and show you her dreams, you'll need to pass a Personalism check. This is a softer, character-focused skill, so it rewards builds that lean into social and psychological abilities.
The dream itself is blocked by a memory tied to a small cosmonaut figure that Karolina lost and hasn't been able to locate. Finding it for her is the key to completing the quest.
Where to find the cosmonaut figure
The cosmonaut figure is held by the King of Trade, who operates out of the Animal Zone in the Old Docks. He won't simply hand it over. The King works on equitable exchange, so you need something he wants before he'll deal.
Speak to him first to confirm he has the figure, then leave the Animal Zone and head to the Bootleg Bazaar. Inside, find Malen's store and look for the large cluster of plushies. Interacting with it reveals a monkey plushie that the King of Trade wants. It costs 5 Sol to purchase.
Once you have the monkey plushie, return to the King of Trade. Hand over the Queen of Trade (the monkey plushie) in exchange for the cosmonaut figure. Then head back to the cinema and give the figure to Karolina.
What happens after you complete the quest?
After returning the cosmonaut figure, proceed through the remaining dialogue with Karolina. The interrogation memory will play out, and once it's done, she becomes a selectable agent for the game's final mission.
Post-quest, Karolina can be found at the Fogged Mirror location. That's your go-to spot if you need to interact with her before committing to the endgame.
Is Karolina worth recruiting?
Karolina fills the Astronomist role, which is a unique slot in your crew lineup. The game's crew-assembly phase gives you choices, but the Astronomist position and what Karolina specifically brings to the final job make her a strong pick. Her personal quest also feeds directly into the game's broader narrative around the Weeping Eye interrogation, so completing it adds meaningful context regardless of whether you take her on the final mission.
