Best locations and farming methods for ...

Epidote is one of the harder ores to track down in Crimson Desert, and for good reason: the best deposits sit behind story progress gates that keep early-game players locked out entirely. Once you push far enough into the main quest to unlock Pailune or the Crimson Desert region, though, the supply opens up considerably. There are three distinct ways to collect it, and knowing which one to prioritize at each stage of the game saves a lot of wasted time.

What is Epidote used for in Crimson Desert?

Epidote falls under the Minerals category and is used primarily for crafting and refining gear at a blacksmith. You bring it to any town or city blacksmith and either craft new equipment or refine existing pieces to push their stats higher. That makes Epidote a mid-to-late-game material: you won't need it while you're still scraping through Hernand, but once you start hitting tougher content, the demand climbs fast.

How to get your first Epidote early

Before any farming routes open up, there's a free sample waiting. Completing Count Felix's Request in Hernand rewards you with Epidote ore. Find Michael near the constabulary on the western side of the city and speak to him to trigger the quest. It's a one-time reward, but it gives you a taste of the material before you've unlocked the regions where it actually spawns in volume.

Where to mine Epidote nodes

Mining is the most reliable long-term source, and the node density varies significantly by region. Here's how the three main areas compare:

The eastern side of Pailune City, right along the Upper Denn River, is the standout farming spot. The nodes cluster around the cliffs in that area, which means you can chain multiple harvests without much travel between them. The southern portion of the Crimson Desert region also has a solid concentration of veins once you reach it.

Hernand does have some Epidote scattered around, but the spread makes it inefficient to farm there. Treat any Hernand nodes as opportunistic pickups rather than a dedicated route.

Can you buy Epidote from merchants?

Yes, and early on this is actually the most accessible option if you have the Silver to spend. Each region contains Mineral Shops that restock Epidote daily. The trade-off is cost: Epidote ores are expensive, so clearing out a merchant's daily stock burns through Silver quickly. This method works best once you've built up a decent money reserve.

The earliest Mineral Shop you can unlock is at Karin Quarry, north of Hernand's main city. To open it, you need to clear the quarry of enemies and defeat Marni's Excavatron. Beating that boss also rewards you with a better mining tool, which makes the whole trip doubly worthwhile.

How to farm Epidote from enemy drops

The third method kicks in once you reach Demeniss. The Hexe Earthen Swordsman, magical creatures found north of the Demeniss region, has a chance to drop Epidote on defeat. These enemies attack in groups, which increases the overall drop rate per engagement since you're fighting several at once. They can also be found near the Sanctum of Mortification in the area.

The catch is consistency: these are not guaranteed drops. Treat enemy farming as a supplement to mining rather than a primary source. If you're in Demeniss anyway and come across a group of Hexe Earthen troops, fight them. Just don't plan your Epidote supply around it.

Which farming method should you use?

The answer depends entirely on where you are in the story:

  • Early game (Hernand only): Complete Count Felix's Request for your first ore. Buy from Karin Quarry's Mineral Shop after clearing Marni's Excavatron, but spend carefully.
  • Mid game (Pailune unlocked): Switch to mining the eastern Pailune node cluster. This is the most efficient farming route in the game.
  • Late game (Demeniss and Crimson Desert): Mine the southern Crimson Desert veins and pick up incidental drops from Hexe Earthen Swordsmen. Use merchants as a Silver dump when you have surplus funds.

The Pailune mining route is the best option once it opens. The node density east of the city, combined with the fact that you're not spending Silver, makes it the go-to for anyone who needs Epidote in bulk for gear refinement.
