Season 14 of Diablo IV landed with one of the biggest system changes the game has seen: every unique in the game can now drop as a Mythic, and the patch rewrote the power rankings from top to bottom. Nerfs hit Necromancer and Warlock hard, Barbarian got a long-awaited bug fix that opened a new damage ceiling, and Rogue emerged with the widest build variety in the game. Here is every class and build ranked for the season, with honest notes on what is worth your time.

Season 14 class roster
What is the overall state of the Season 14 meta?
The meta is more balanced than most seasons, but it is still top-heavy. Without bugs in play, no class is expected to clear Pit 150, with the realistic ceiling sitting between Pit 130 and Pit 145 for the strongest setups. Build diversity has genuinely expanded thanks to the universal Mythic system, giving Sorcerer and Druid the most new viable archetypes. Rogue and Barbarian sit at the top, Spiritborn and Druid are strong, and Necromancer with Warlock continue to fight defensive issues that the patch did not address.
One important note before diving in: early season tier lists shift. The community has seen big swings in previous seasons once players settle into the actual patch. Treat these rankings as a strong starting point, not gospel.
Class tier list: where does every class rank?
Rogue (S tier): the widest build variety in the game
Rogue takes the top spot for Season 14. Around ten builds are genuinely viable, mobility through Dash and Shadow Step is the best in the game, and the class benefits directly from the Sign of Pelgane restriction to cold damage since Rogue is the only class with competitive cold builds. Class helms also survived the Aero of Perdition nerf cycle better than most alternatives.
Best Rogue builds for Season 14
- Death Trap Rogue (S+): The highest-ceiling build in the game right now, capable of Pit 150 thanks to a bugged interaction. Strongest possible launch-window power, but carries real hotfix risk. Not a build to invest in if you hate rebuilding characters.
- Pen Shot Rogue: The safer top Rogue pick. Massive multi-hit scaling, poison imbuement, and stun grenade synergy push this into Pit 140+ territory with far less risk than Death Trap.
- Dance of Knives Rogue: The best leveling build in the game, period. Takes you from level 1 to 70 with unmatched mobility and easy resource generation through Inner Sight. Transitions cleanly into endgame mapping.
- Twisting Blades Rogue: Received direct damage buffs in the Season 14 patch. The melee Rogue fantasy is back and competitive for both mapping and bossing.
- Flurry Rogue: Benefits from its class-specific helm surviving the Aero of Perdition nerf, providing reliable damage scaling as a melee alternative.

Barbarian (S tier): the easiest high-end experience
Barbarian benefits from a critical Ramaladni's Magnum Opus bug fix that now correctly scales Call of the Ancients damage, opening up a completely new damage ceiling. Combined with permanent Berserking uptime, Iron Skin barrier, and minimal positioning requirements, this is the most forgiving top-tier class in the season.
The community has noted that Barbarian still was not nerfed hard enough relative to other classes, particularly because the Ramaladni fix gave it a new damage floor. Every class can still clear Torment 12, but Barbarian is farming Pit 140+ while others are working harder for similar results.
Best Barbarian builds for Season 14
- Ancients Singer (Brobarian): The highest non-bugged DPS build in the entire game. Spam shouts, alternate Mighty Throw and Call of the Ancients as double ultimates, and the damage output is genuinely absurd. Requires playing damage windows correctly, but the reward is massive.
- Whirlwind Barbarian: The best overall build for most players. Takes you from level 1 to 70 in under three hours with zero crafting required. Now compatible with Melted Heart of Selig for strong survivability despite the Selig nerf. Farms fast, handles bosses, and never feels like you are fighting the controls.
- Rend Fire Barb: Received a set buff combining bleed with fire damage. Sits below the top two builds but is a solid option for players who want something different.

Sorcerer (A tier): more options than last season
Sorcerer is one of the biggest winners in terms of build diversity. Lightning dominance was completely dismantled: Unstable Currents now has diminishing returns on skill rank scaling, and Boundless Verine only boosts Crackling Energy damage. The old Ball Lightning meta is dead. Fire Set buffs revived Firewall, cold builds received quiet damage boosts, and Teleport remains the best mobility tool in the game.
Best Sorcerer builds for Season 14
- Firewall DoT Sorcerer: The real Sorc winner this season. Fire setups got better support from Paragon and Heat changes, and Firewall now has enough damage to compete seriously. It is a DoT setup, so you play around uptime and placement. Once it ramps, the damage gets nasty against bosses and dense Pit packs. Combines well with Hydra, Meteor, or Fire Bolt enchantments.
- Crackling Energy Sorc: Still functional after the Unstable Currents nerfs. Clears Pit 120 in under a minute on reasonable gear. No longer hits Pit 150 in 70 seconds, but remains the smoothest top-tier Sorc experience.
- Ice Shards Sorc: Cold builds received quiet buffs and benefit from the Sign of Pelgane cold restriction. Strong AoE clear with chill mechanics for crowd control utility.
- Meteor Sorcerer: Got help from Helm buffs, Paragon changes, and Heat set support. More burst-flavored than Firewall but slightly more awkward to pilot.
Spiritborn (A tier): still strong after the nerfs
Pestilent Swarm received only minor adjustments and still offers one of the fastest mapping experiences in the game. The main change is that Rushing Claw cooldown refresh now requires hitting a target via Evolving Claws, slightly reducing mobility in empty corridors. Core damage scaling was not touched, and key items like Harmony of Ebewaka and Ring of the Ravenous Mood become significantly stronger as Mythics.
Best Spiritborn builds for Season 14
- Pestilent Swarm Spiritborn: Still the top Spiritborn build. Best overall class package after the nerfs.
- Stinger Spiritborn: Levels well and keeps scaling into endgame. Potent Sting gives it strong growth once the setup comes together.
- Quill Volley Spiritborn: Reliable ranged alternative, less affected by resolve stacking nerfs, comfortable for all content.
- Crushing Hand Spiritborn: Budget option for leveling and early endgame transitions.

Druid (B tier): a season of surprises
Druid is one of the biggest winners in terms of new viable builds, even while sitting in B tier overall. Major Storm Set buffs revived Shred, Tornado, Storm Strike, and Claw builds. The downside is that Shepherd's Aspect was nerfed from 13% to 3% damage per companion, gutting the previous top Companion Druid setup entirely.
Best Druid builds for Season 14
- Boulder Lightning Druid: The new pit pushing king for Druid. The Dolmen Stone buff causes Boulders to explode for 90% damage (120% as Mythic), feeding into the Old Mountain set for petrify and bonus explosions.
- Lightning Storm Druid: Safe, consistent, and great for leveling into endgame. Strong AoE coverage makes farming feel smooth. One of the better builds for players who want Druid without the complexity of Boulder Lightning.
- Shred Druid: A fan favorite making a major comeback thanks to storm tag conversions. Fast, aggressive, and strong for both speed clears and single target.
- Tornado / Storm Strike Druid: Pure storm builds now have full viable kits thanks to the Storm Set overhaul. Tornado for ranged caster, Storm Strike for melee bruiser.
- Companion Druid: Still playable despite the Shepherd's Aspect nerf, with aspect reshuffling moving Reanimation to two-hander for partial recovery. A shadow of its former self.
Paladin (B tier): Zealot rises, Clash falls
Paladin sits in the middle of the pack with solid all-around performance and remains the only true support class in the game. Clash took a hard hit with resolve stacking capped at 16 instead of 52, removing its previous dominance. The Zealot archetype received major love in return: Red Sermon was buffed from 105% to 120% bonus damage (156% as Mythic), and Zeal finally interacts correctly with the weapon.
Best Paladin builds for Season 14
- Zealot Paladin: The new top Paladin build. One of the smoothest leveling and endgame experiences in the game.
- Wing Strikes Paladin: Got more base Wing damage, stronger Oath support, and better Defiance value. Strong mix of damage and defense that matters when Pit starts punishing mistakes.
- Holy Paladin: Viable for support-leaning players in group content. Less competitive solo.
- Clash Paladin: Nerfed but functional with the 16 resolve cap. Most Paladin players should migrate to Zealot.
Warlock (B tier): clunky but improving
Warlock sits among the weaker classes due to clunky gameplay, low mobility, and squishiness. Apocalypse received a significant nerf with the survivor damage bonus dropping from 100% to 25%. On the positive side, Cage of Madness was buffed to 340% bonus damage on basic skill (442% as Mythic), making Lunatic Warlock a new sleeper pick, and Hands of the World Breaker jumped from 400% to 520% bonus damage.
Best Warlock builds for Season 14
- Lunatic Warlock: The new budget-friendly favorite. Walk forward, spam Lunatics, and farm Mythics. Surprisingly effective given how straightforward the gameplay loop is.
- Apocalypse Warlock: Still viable thanks to the Hands of the World Breaker buff. No longer dominant but functional for committed Warlock players.
- Dread Claw Warlock: A potential dark horse with strong DoT scaling. Mostly unexplored and has potential ceiling that is not fully understood yet.
Necromancer (B tier): the hardest hardcore class
Necromancer is in a rough spot. Banished Lord's Talisman was gutted, Red Blessing was reduced from 4 to 2 overpower stacks, and the squishiness that has plagued the class for multiple seasons was not addressed. Every Necromancer build is forced into offensive pants, leaving zero defensive slots available. This is the worst hardcore class by a wide margin.
The one bright spot: Maze of Khan Lim was buffed from 80% to 120% (156% as Mythic), giving Golem Necromancer some new life.
Best Necromancer builds for Season 14
- Blood Wave Necromancer: Still the top Necro build despite the nerfs. Pushes Pit 140 territory in expert hands, though with much tighter margins than last season.
- Golem Necromancer: The new home for Necro players after Banished Lord's was gutted. More relaxed minion-focused playstyle.
- Bone Spirit Necromancer: Solid single target for boss farming. Benefits from the new Mythic system's crit damage scaling.
- Minion Necromancer: Easiest leveling experience for Necro with massive Paragon-based damage multipliers. Falls off significantly in endgame Pit pushing.
