The Stabilize the Rift Anomaly is one of the most rewarding random events in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2, and most players have no idea how to handle it the first time they see it. A giant purple rift tears open somewhere on the map, Dark Voyager Drones swarm around it, and the game gives you zero explanation. Here's exactly what to do.
What is the Stabilize the Rift Anomaly?
The Stabilize the Rift Anomaly is a mid-match event introduced by Epic Games in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2. When it triggers, a massive purple rift tear opens at a random location on the map, surrounded by a cluster of Dark Voyager Drones scanning it for data. Think of it as a mini-encounter with a big payoff.
This event doesn't happen at a fixed point on the map. It spawns randomly, and when it goes live, a notification pops up in the center of your screen before shifting to the upper-right corner beneath your minimap. A small circular rift icon also appears on your map marking every active anomaly nearby.
The rift icon disappears from your map the moment another player successfully stabilizes that specific anomaly. If the icon vanishes before you arrive, someone else got there first.
How to find a rift anomaly
Because the event spawns randomly, you can't plan a drop route around it. Your best approach is to stay mobile during the mid-game and watch the upper-right corner of your screen for the event notification. Once you see it, open your map and head toward the nearest rift icon.
The event stays active until every anomaly on the map has been stabilized or the match ends, so you have a window to reach one if you move quickly.

How to destroy Dark Voyager Drones
This is the core mechanic. Around 2 to 3 Dark Voyager Drones appear next to the rift at any given time, and they spawn in waves as you eliminate them. You'll need to take down roughly 10 drones total to fully close the rift.
Despite looking like shrunken versions of the Dark Harvester, these drones are not particularly threatening on their own. A few shots from any SMG or AR drops them fast. The real danger is the laser beam they charge up before firing.
When a drone starts charging its laser, run directly underneath it. The beam fires forward and can't track you if you're below the drone's body. After it fires, the drone is stunned briefly, leaving it completely open to follow-up shots.

Drone laser charge attack
The stun window after each laser blast is the key detail most players miss. Use that moment to dump a full magazine into the drone before it recovers. With any halfway decent weapon from the Chapter 7 Season 2 loot pool, you can chain eliminations quickly.
Don't stand still at the rift for too long. Other players can see the same rift icon you can, and the loot reward goes to whoever stabilizes it. You're also exposed while fighting drones, so keep moving and watch your surroundings.
All Stabilize the Rift Anomaly loot rewards
Once all the drones are down, the rift collapses and drops one randomized weapon from a pool of nine exclusive items. These weapons don't appear anywhere else in the standard loot pool, which makes this event the only way to get them.
The two Mythic weapons, Baron's Double Down Pistol and Thorne's Vampiric Blade, are the obvious targets here. The three Legendary options are also strong mid-to-late game picks, particularly the Havoc Suppressed Assault Rifle for its range and quiet fire.
