Forza Horizon 6 Review

There are exactly 400 collectibles scattered across Forza Horizon 6's open world: 200 Regional Mascots and 200 Bonus Boards. Smash every last one and you'll unlock two achievements, Gotta Smash 'Em All and A Few Splinters Is Nothing! The good news is that every single collectible is available from the moment you start the game, so there's no waiting for story progress or locked regions.

What are the two collectible types in Forza Horizon 6?

The 400 collectibles split into two distinct categories, and knowing the difference saves you time on the map.

  • Regional Mascots (200 total): Physical objects you destroy by driving into them. They appear on the minimap as a purple Face icon once you're close enough.
  • Bonus Boards (200 total): Breakable boards spread across the map. These show up as a purple H icon when you're in range.

Both types are destroyed the same way: drive directly into them at speed. There's no special requirement, no specific car class needed, just make contact and they're gone.

How do you find all collectible locations?

There are two main approaches, and the right one depends on how much you want to spend.

Option 1: Buy the Treasure Map

The in-game Treasure Map costs $2.99 and instantly marks every collectible on your map, including Mascots, Bonus Boards, Treasure Cars, and Barn Finds. If you're going for full completion and don't want to hunt manually, this is the fastest path.

Option 2: Use a community map

If you'd rather keep your wallet closed, a full visual map of all 400 collectible positions has been documented by the community. Every Mascot and Bonus Board position is plotted, so you can work through regions methodically without spending anything.

How do navigation and fast travel work for collectibles?

Once a collectible appears on your map, you have two ways to reach it without manually driving the full route.

  • Fast Travel: Select the collectible's location on the map screen and fast travel directly to it. This requires having fast travel unlocked.
  • Autodrive: Press Down + Left on the d-pad to activate Autodrive and let the game navigate your car to the selected destination automatically.

Both options make grinding through 400 collectibles considerably less tedious, especially once you're down to the last few dozen scattered across the map.

Achievements tied to collectibles

Smashing all 400 collectibles unlocks exactly two achievements:

Neither achievement has a partial progress reward, so you need the full 200 in each category. Progress is tracked separately, meaning you can complete one before the other without any issue.

Tips for efficient collectible hunting

After working through the map region by region, a few habits make the process noticeably faster.

  • Filter the map: Use the in-game map filter to display only Mascot and Bonus Board icons. Removing race events, drivatars, and other clutter makes it much easier to spot what's left.
  • Work by region: Clear one geographic area completely before moving to the next. Backtracking across the full Japan map wastes time.
  • Use a fast car: Any car works for destroying collectibles, but a faster car means less time driving between locations. Road speed matters more than off-road capability for most collectible runs.
  • Check the grayed-out icons: Completed collectibles stay visible on the map as grayed-out markers. If an icon is still colored purple, you haven't hit it yet.

Collectibles are just one part of what makes exploring Japan's map worthwhile. For other hidden content, the Forza Horizon 6 Barn Finds guide covers all 15 hidden cars, and the full Forza Horizon 6 guides collection has everything else you need to hit 100% completion.
