Overview
Oxygen Not Included आपको एक procedurally generated asteroid के बीच में डाल देता है, जहाँ आपके पास कुछ मुट्ठी भर duplicants हैं, zero infrastructure है, और उनके oxygen supply के लिए घड़ी पहले ही टिक-टिक कर रही है। Klei Entertainment द्वारा develop और publish किया गया यह colony simulation game, जुलाई 2019 में रिलीज़ हुआ था। इसका premise सुनने में बहुत simple लगता है: अपने लोगों को इतनी देर तक ज़िंदा रखो कि वे रहने लायक कुछ बना सकें। लेकिन इस premise और execution के बीच का फासला ही वो जगह है जहाँ आपके सैकड़ों घंटे चुटकियों में गायब हो जाते हैं।
यह asteroid सिर्फ एक background नहीं है। यह एक hostile environment है, जिसके अपने temperature gradients, gas pockets, alien biomes और geological layers हैं, जो आपके हर decision को मुश्किल बना देते हैं। अगर आपने गलत दिशा में dig किया, तो पूरा कमरा chlorine से भर जाएगा। अगर plumbing route करना भूल गए, तो आपके duplicants अपना ही recycled पसीना पीने लगेंगे। इसका simulation काफी deep है, और यह गलत planning को बिल्कुल माफ नहीं करता।

Gameplay and mechanics
अपने core में, Oxygen Not Included एक base-building और resource-management game है जहाँ लगभग हर resource एक cycle में घूमता रहता है। आपके duplicants oxygen लेते हैं और carbon dioxide छोड़ते हैं, ऐसा खाना खाते हैं जो heat generate करता है, और ऐसा waste पैदा करते हैं जिसे सही machines बनाकर वापस useful materials में बदला जा सकता है। इसके systems लगातार एक-दूसरे से जुड़े हुए हैं।

Colony sim loop को चलाने वाली मुख्य mechanics:
- Oxygen generation और CO2 scrubbing

- Food production, storage, और calorie tracking

Duplicants सिर्फ labor units नहीं हैं। हर एक के पास अपने stats, traits और personal quirks होते हैं, जो यह तय करते हैं कि वे कितनी efficiency से काम करेंगे और दबाव में कितनी जल्दी हार मानेंगे। अगर आपके पास cooking skill वाला duplicant कम है, तो आपकी colony को proper meals की जगह raw mush bars खाने पड़ेंगे, जिससे morale गिरेगा और productivity भी कम हो जाएगी। Feedback loops यहाँ लगातार चलते रहते हैं।
What makes this colony sim different?
ज़्यादातर colony builders आपको expansion पर focus करने देते हैं। Oxygen Not Included आपको पहले stability पर focus करने के लिए मजबूर करता है। Oxygen मिलना कोई गारंटी नहीं है। Heat एक ऐसा खतरा है जो समय के साथ बढ़ता रहता है, क्योंकि machines और bodies बंद जगहों में गर्मी छोड़ते रहते हैं। एक विशाल underground base में temperature manage करने के लिए thermodynamics की ऐसी समझ चाहिए जो किसी engineering course के बराबर हो।
Game का research tree नए buildings और technologies unlock करता है, लेकिन हर unlock नए solutions के साथ-साथ नई समस्याएं भी लाता है। एक electrolyzer बनाने से आपकी oxygen की कमी तो दूर हो जाएगी, लेकिन यह hydrogen और heat पैदा करेगा। उन byproducts को manage करना ही अगला puzzle बन जाता है। परिणामों की यही chain Oxygen Not Included को बाकी आसान builders से अलग बनाती है।

World and setting
Asteroid के biomes frozen tundra से लेकर caustic chemical zones तक फैले हुए हैं, और हर एक में unique resources और environmental hazards हैं। Alien lifeforms चट्टानों पर घूमते हैं और अगर आप उनके लिए सही habitat engineer कर लें, तो उनमें से कुछ को domesticated किया जा सकता है, farmed किया जा सकता है, या food chain का हिस्सा बनाया जा सकता है। हर बार दुनिया अलग तरह से generate होती है, जो हर playthrough में early-game discovery को fresh रखती है।
Klei की art direction ने गेम को एक clean और clinical look दिया है, जो असल में होने वाली chaos के बिल्कुल उलट है। Duplicants की personality के साथ animation, उनके stress reactions और idle behaviors इस relentless survival challenge में dark humor की एक परत जोड़ देते हैं।
Content and replayability
Oxygen Not Included में कई asteroid types शामिल हैं और इसका Spaced Out! DLC गेम को एक नए cluster-map system, additional biomes और space travel mechanics के साथ और बड़ा बनाता है, जो late-game complexity को काफी आगे ले जाता है। Base game में पहले से ही काफी depth है, लेकिन DLC एक साथ कई asteroids पर solve करने के लिए logistical समस्याओं की एक दूसरी परत जोड़ देता है।
