A sale worth paying attention to
Amazon's Mid-Year Sale kicked off earlier this week and runs until Sunday, June 7 at 11:59pm. Seven full days of discounts spanning tech, home appliances, fashion, beauty, and more, with some cuts going as deep as 70% off. That last figure isn't a typo.
For anyone who missed the Big Smile Sale back in March, this is the next best window before Amazon Prime Day rolls around in July. The key here is knowing which deals are actually good versus which ones are dressed up discounts on products that were already mediocre at full price.
The tech deals that actually stand out
The Kindle Paperwhite (2024) is down to approximately $150 USD equivalent, a 20% cut from its regular price. It features a 7-inch screen, up to 12 weeks of battery life, and a waterproof build. Not the lowest it has ever gone (that was closer to $125 USD during Black Friday), but a solid price for one of the best e-readers on the market.
If you want color, the Kindle Colorsoft 16GB is sitting at around 25% off. It only recently launched in Australia and this is already one of the steeper discounts seen on it since release. The color display makes a real difference if you read comics or illustrated books.
On the audio side, Bose QuietComfort Headphones are 46% off, which is a genuinely strong cut. Twenty-four hours of battery life, adjustable EQ, and Bose's noise cancellation at nearly half price is hard to argue with. The Bose QuietComfort Earbuds are 35% off, and while they lack some of the features of Bose's higher-end buds, the noise cancellation holds up well for the price.
Apple AirPods Pro 3 are 14% off, which is the biggest Amazon discount seen on them since launch. The saving is modest in dollar terms, but the AirPods Pro 3 added heart-rate monitoring, improved active noise cancellation, and live language translation through Apple Intelligence over the previous generation, so the value proposition is legitimately better than it looks.
Smartwatches and wearables worth a look
The Garmin Vivoactive 5 is 30% off in the Orchid colorway specifically, with black and navy sitting slightly higher. Up to 11 days of battery life in smartwatch mode, over 30 built-in sports apps, and personalized sleep coaching make this a strong pick for anyone after a fitness-focused wearable. The all-time low was around $200 USD equivalent back in January, so this isn't the floor, but it's close enough to be worth considering.
For Samsung users, a 4-pack of Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 2 trackers is 49% off, bringing each tracker to under $14 USD equivalent. Solid value if you've been putting off getting an item tracker setup.
Home appliances with the biggest percentage cuts
The headline number here belongs to the ECOVACS DEEBOT T30S Pro Robot Vacuum and Mop, which is 70% off. That's a substantial cut on a robot vacuum that handles both vacuuming and mopping, with 180-minute battery life and obstacle avoidance tech. At 70% off, it's the kind of deal that's hard to find even on Black Friday.
Ninja is well represented across the sale. The Double Stack Air Fryer is 58% off, the Air Fryer Pro XL is 54% off, and the Slushi frozen drink maker is 50% off. The Ninja CREAMi Deluxe, which makes ice cream, sorbet, and gelato at home, is 34% off. These are the kinds of kitchen gadgets that sit in wishlists for months, and this sale is a reasonable time to pull the trigger.
The Dyson V15 Detect Absolute cordless vacuum is 38% off. Released back in 2021, it still holds up as one of Dyson's better performing models with laser debris detection and up to 60 minutes of cleaning time.
What most players miss about mid-year sales
Here's the thing with Amazon's mid-year event: the best deals tend to move fast, and the 70% figures are usually attached to a single color variant or a specific configuration. Pro tip: check the product page for all color and size options before assuming the headline discount applies to the one you want. The Garmin Vivoactive 5 situation is a good example, where only the Orchid color hits the full 30% off.
Amazon Prime Day is still scheduled for early-to-mid July, so if you're on the fence about a purchase, that's the next major window. Prime members get access to exclusive deals during that event, and the discounts tend to go deeper on flagship tech. For gaming peripherals, headsets, and monitors in particular, Prime Day has historically been one of the better times to buy.
