Amplitude Studios Secures Over $13M Funding

Amplitude Studios has closed a €12 million Series A funding round, approximately $13.5 million. Griffin Gaming Partners led the investment with €10 million, and public investment bank Bpifrance joined as an additional backer. The capital will fund development of new titles, including Endless Legend 2, and support team expansion and community collaboration efforts.

The funding follows Amplitude's split from Sega, which bought the studio in 2016. Now independent again, Amplitude plans to refocus on strategy games, the genre it built its reputation on. Endless Legend 2 is one of the first major releases planned under this renewed independence. The money will go toward both production and the studio's longstanding practice of working closely with its player base.

Frankie Zhu, a partner at Griffin Gaming Partners, pointed to Amplitude's track record in the strategy space. The studio has consistently released games that perform well with critics and players alike. Griffin sees the partnership as a way to support Amplitude as it builds out strategy-focused universes shaped by community feedback.

Focus on Creative Vision and Community

Romain de Waubert de Genlis, CEO of Amplitude Studios, said the return to independence lets the team pursue its original creative direction without compromise. The Griffin partnership is designed to accelerate the studio's plans while preserving its identity and autonomy. De Waubert confirmed the studio is already deep into new projects and expects to reveal more soon.

Continued Emphasis on Strategy Games

Amplitude built its name on intricate, player-driven strategy games. The new funding will let the studio expand its capacity while staying true to that focus. Endless Legend 2 is the centerpiece of the studio's near-term roadmap and will reflect Amplitude's commitment to mechanical depth, thoughtful design, and community-driven development.

The investment is a significant step for an independent developer aiming to scale without diluting its creative vision. Amplitude is betting that a clear genre focus and a loyal community can sustain long-term growth.
