Aurory Tactics Discontinued to Concentrate on Web3 RPG

In a recent development, Aurory, the gaming studio known for its turn-based battler Aurory Tactics, has made the strategic decision to shut down the game and shift its focus entirely to the RPG title Seekers of Tokane.

The decision comes after a year of intense development and the realization that ongoing issues, such as cheating and fixed matchmaking, have negatively impacted the gaming experience for many players.

Cheating and Bans

The announcement was made by Jonathan Campeau, the head of production at Aurory, through a post on the platform X/Twitter. In the video, Campeau acknowledged the persistent challenges faced by Aurory Tactics, citing instances of cheating and fixed matchmaking that the team's preventative measures couldn't fully address.

In response to these issues, the team had resorted to banning the game in specific regions, including large IP addresses and entire countries. However, the unforeseen consequence of these bans is the adverse impact on the growth of Seekers of Tokane.

Users in the affected countries are unable to access the newly released RPG, forcing the development team to make a tough decision regarding the future of their games.

Focusing on RPG

Balancing the ongoing development and live operations for both Aurory Tactics and Seekers of Tokane is deemed unsustainable by the studio. Consequently, Aurory has opted to shut down Aurory Tactics to focus exclusively on Seekers of Tokane, aligning with the strategic direction of the company.

The shutdown process will occur in two phases. The first phase involves an immediate cessation of all rewarded battles in Aurory Tactics, set to conclude on Monday, March 4th.

Following this, the distribution of rewards will be halted on Tuesday, March 5th. The second phase will extend until the end of the current Aurory Tactics season on April 30th, culminating in the final sunsetting of the title.

Despite the closure, there is a glimmer of hope for Aurory Tactics enthusiasts, as Campeau hinted at the possibility of rebooting the game in a version 2 form, potentially in the year 2025.

This decision aligns with the studio's commitment to evolving and adapting to the ever-changing landscape of the gaming industry. Players and fans are encouraged to stay tuned for future updates from Aurory regarding their gaming portfolio and upcoming projects.
