Beam Broadens Focus Beyond Gaming

Beam, a project that began as an Axie Infinity guild in 2021 before evolving into the gaming investment DAO Merit Circle, has announced a significant expansion of its mission. With its recent developments, Beam is positioning itself as a broader contributor to the web3 ecosystem. Its latest initiative guided by the motto "More than gaming’"signals a shift toward supporting a wider range of decentralized applications and blockchain innovations.

The expansion includes visual rebranding alongside the introduction of new efforts aimed at extending the scope of Beam’s impact. These efforts will support areas such as decentralized finance (DeFi), data-compute infrastructure, and a variety of other web3 applications. Beam describes this phase as involving “the most ambitious goals we’ve ever set for ourselves,” reflecting a clear intent to diversify its operations while maintaining its roots in gaming.

Beam Ventures and Gaming Acceleration

A key part of Beam’s new strategy is the launch of Beam Ventures. This division is designed to function as both a venture fund and an accelerator program. The goal is to raise $150 million to support early-stage teams developing within the web3 and gaming sectors. The accelerator plans to host and support between ten to twenty teams annually, with operations based in Abu Dhabi. Beam Ventures is structured to provide funding, guidance, and infrastructure to help these teams build and grow.

Alongside Beam Ventures, the Beam Foundation will play a central role in advancing the project's broader vision. Operating as a separate team, the foundation is tasked with identifying and acting on emerging opportunities across the web3 landscape. It aims to continue pushing boundaries and adapting to shifts in the industry while maintaining Beam’s presence and relevance.

Increased Focus on Marketing and Visibility

To support its expansion, Beam is also focusing on improving its visibility and reach across digital platforms. The project has outlined plans to invest in more diverse forms of content, including video and written materials. This approach is intended to engage a wider audience and communicate the developments taking place across the Beam ecosystem. Beam’s marketing team will also seek to explore creative strategies that align with the evolving nature of the web3 space.

Ongoing Development of the Beam Network

Even as Beam expands into new areas, it continues to contribute actively to the Beam Network. Part of this includes the implementation of Beam Nodes, which are expected to support decentralization and performance of the network. Additionally, a transition to a Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism is underway to improve energy efficiency and scalability. The network remains central to Beam’s gaming roots, with titles such as Forgotten Playland launched earlier this year, and TrialXtreme expected in 2025, both built on the Beam Network.

Beam’s transition from a gaming-focused DAO to a more comprehensive web3 contributor marks a notable development in the industry. Through its new divisions, increased marketing efforts, and continued support for the Beam Network, Beam is positioning itself to play a larger role in shaping decentralized technologies and applications beyond the gaming sector.
