PlayStation and Spider-Man have been a great pairing for a long time, but since Insomniac Games took over in 2018, it became something truly special. Spider-Man is now one of Sony's biggest exclusive franchises alongside God of War and Horizon, and the quality bar they've set is genuinely hard to argue with.
With Brand New Day in cinemas, here are every Spider-Man game worth playing on PlayStation, whether you're on PS5 or still running a PS4.
PS5: The Essentials
Marvel's Spider-Man 2
The best superhero game on any platform right now, and it's a PS5 exclusive. If you've been on the fence about picking up a PS5, this game alone justifies it. The DualSense haptic feedback when you're web-swinging and using the symbiote abilities is the kind of thing that's hard to explain until you've felt it.
Peter's arc with the symbiote is genuinely dark in a way the series hadn't gone before, and switching between him and Miles mid-mission keeps 30+ hours of content feeling fresh throughout.

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales
Shorter than the main series at 8–12 hours, but don't let that put you off. Miles Morales is a tighter, more personal story that nails its character in a way that many longer games don't. The Venom bio-electric powers are the best new mechanic Insomniac added to the franchise since web-swinging itself. The Christmas-in-Harlem setting is also one of the most visually distinctive environments in any open-world game.

Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered
The 2018 original rebuilt for PS5, with ray tracing, faster load times, and a new Peter Parker face model. This is where Insomniac's story starts, and you'll want to play it before Spider-Man 2 for the full narrative payoff. Doctor Octopus in this game is the best villain in the entire franchise. Also available on PC. Includes The City That Never Sleeps DLC.

PS4: Still Worth Playing
Marvel's Spider-Man (PS4, 2018)
If you're on PS4 and can't access the remaster, the original 2018 release is the same game at a lower resolution with slightly longer load times. Everything that makes it great is still there. The three-part DLC , The City That Never Sleeps, featuring Black Cat, Hammerhead, and Silver Sable adds solid extra hours of content after the main story.

Classic PlayStation Titles
Spider-Man (PS1, 2000)
Available in the new gen PlayStation classics catalogue in some regions. Neversoft's PS1 game is where 3D Spider-Man gaming started, and it holds up as a piece of history. Interesting to revisit if you want to understand how far the franchise has come.
Spider-Man 2 (PS2, 2004)
The Raimi-era tie-in that invented physics-based web-swinging. Available through the PS2 catalogue on PS4 in some regions. More significant as a milestone than as a current-day play, but the swinging still feels good.
What's Coming Next on PlayStation
Marvel's Wolverine drops September 15, 2026 on PS5. Made by the same Insomniac team and set in the same universe as the Spider-Man games, it looks like their darkest project yet.
After Wolverine, rumors point to a standalone Venom game followed eventually by Spider-Man 3, which insider reports are placing in a 2028–2029 window, likely as a PS6 title. Spider-Man 3 is currently rumored for a 2028–2029 release and is expected to launch as a PS6 title, though nothing has been officially confirmed by Insomniac or Sony.
