CenterPoint Gaming Makes Crosshairs Portable Across PC Games

Most PC gamers don't think much about crosshairs until they're forced to adjust to a new one every time they switch games. Default crosshairs vary wildly between titles, and customization options range from robust to nonexistent. CenterPoint Gaming's software lets players design one crosshair and carry it across every game they play, eliminating the constant visual readjustment that comes with jumping between shooters, survival games, and competitive multiplayer.

How CenterPoint Gaming started

George Guba founded CenterPoint Gaming in early 2020 after leaving his job as an Amazon Web Services cloud engineer. He funded the company with personal savings and support from his partner, building Crosshair X to fill a gap he noticed in PC gaming: inconsistent crosshair options. Games like Rust, Counter-Strike, and Fortnite either offered minimal customization or none at all. Guba's fix was straightforward—create a tool that lets players design a crosshair once and use it everywhere.

Matt North, now the company's marketing and product manager, joined after using Crosshair X himself. He was making cinematic content for Rust when he ran into a persistent overlay alignment bug. After reporting it multiple times, Guba brought him on to help fix it. North's role expanded into support, community management, and product development.

Crosshairs that work across games

CenterPoint Gaming makes three products: Crosshair V2, Crosshair X, and Scope X. Crosshair V2 is free and includes several preset crosshairs. Crosshair X is the paid version with full customization and access to community designs. Scope X magnifies sections of the screen, working like a digital scope for better visibility.

The software keeps the same crosshair across every title, whether you're playing shooters, survival games, or sandbox worlds. North says the main draw is consistency and control. Players can tweak size, color, style, and behavior to match their preferences, and the crosshair works in any PC game.

The technology behind Crosshair X

Crosshair X runs as an overlay, not a game modification. It offers two display modes depending on your setup. The primary mode uses an invisible window that sits on top of everything else, placing the crosshair at the center of your screen. This works in most windowed or borderless games. The secondary mode, called Game Bar mode, enables full-screen use through a Windows Game Bar widget.

The overlay approach avoids direct interaction with game code, which reduces the chance of triggering anti-cheat systems. Some competing tools inject code into games, which can look suspicious and lead to account flags. Crosshair X keeps the crosshair outside the game process entirely. North says there's no confirmed case of a player being banned because of CenterPoint Gaming's software, though some users have mistakenly blamed the tool for unrelated bans.

From user to community contributor

North says the biggest advantage of Crosshair X was having one reliable crosshair across all games. Early on, he needed something that gave him consistency and precision that default settings couldn't match. He settled on a neon pink crosshair and still uses it.

CenterPoint Gaming estimates that 250,000 to 300,000 concurrent users rely on its software daily. The platform also lets players access crosshairs created by streamers and content creators, adding more customization options.

Crosshair customization in modern PC gaming

Portable crosshairs address both usability and accessibility. Some players need high-contrast designs for better visibility. Others prefer minimal styles for competitive precision. By keeping crosshair overlays separate from the game itself, CenterPoint Gaming offers a flexible solution that works across genres and titles.

Players interested in testing crosshairs can download Crosshair X, Crosshair V2, and Scope X from the Epic Games Store. The software provides a quality-of-life improvement by offering visual consistency without compromising safety or performance.
