$793.5 million. That's what Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle pulled in at the global box office after its July 2025 theatrical debut, making it the highest-grossing Japanese film ever and the top-performing international movie in US history. Now that the first film has landed on Crunchyroll for streaming, the obvious question is front and center: when does Part 2 arrive?
The short answer is that animation studio Ufotable hasn't said much yet. But there's enough context to piece together a realistic picture.

Part 2 is confirmed, but Ufotable is quiet
Both Infinity Castle Part 2 and Part 3 were confirmed when Ufotable announced the trilogy back in 2024, following the conclusion of the anime's fourth season. The plan was always to adapt the manga's Infinity Castle arc across three films. That hasn't changed. What's missing is any official update on production progress or a release window.
Here's the thing: the silence isn't unusual for Ufotable. The studio tends to operate on long timelines. The first Infinity Castle film took three and a half years to animate, with production starting alongside the show's third season in 2023. Given that cadence, a 2026 release for Part 2 was never realistic, and the lack of any announcement this far into the year effectively confirms it.
Where the story goes from here
Part 1 adapted 17 of the 44 chapters in the Infinity Castle arc. Tanjiro Kamado and the top-ranking Hashira cornered a wounded Muzan Kibutsuji, who retreated into his shifting, non-Euclidean fortress. The Demon Slayer Corps got scattered across the castle's impossible geometry, each facing off against Muzan's most powerful remaining Upper Moon demons.
Part 2 picks up inside that chaos. The separated Hashira continue their individual battles while racing against time, since Muzan is actively recovering. The stakes are the highest they've been across the entire series. Every fight in the Infinity Castle arc carries real consequences, and the manga doesn't pull punches about who makes it out.
After the Infinity Castle arc wraps across the three films, there's still a 22-chapter epilogue arc remaining in the manga. Whether that gets folded into Part 3 or saved for something else is an open question, but at the current pace of adaptation, the full story likely won't be told on screen for another two to three years.
When to expect the next big update
December is the most logical target for news. Every year, manga publisher Shueisha holds Jump Festa, a major convention tied to its Weekly Shonen Jump lineup. Demon Slayer ran in that magazine from 2016 to 2020, and Ufotable has used the event before to drop major announcements. Jump Festa 2027 would be the natural stage for a first trailer or release date reveal, assuming the film is targeting a 2027 theatrical window.
For now, 2027 is the working assumption. If Part 2 were arriving sooner, an announcement would have come already. Ufotable revealed Part 1 a full year before it hit theaters.
