Fortnitemares 2026 is bringing a Halloween-themed update to Fortnite, with corruption spreading across Battle Royale, Horde Rush, and Reload throughout October. The event adds new locations, weapons, gameplay mechanics, bosses, and crossover content from several horror franchises.
Players can expect new characters and cosmetics from Five Nights at Freddy’s, Hazbin Hotel, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Beetlejuice, Obsession, and other Halloween-themed properties during the month.
Freddy Krueger Arrives in Fortnite
One of the main additions to Fortnitemares 2026 is Freddy Krueger, who can be found in the new Nightmare Neighborhood POI and Freaky Fields. Players who defeat Freddy can obtain Freddy’s Nightmare, an item that allows them to teleport into range of opponents before attacking them.
The update also introduces the Bonerattler SMG, which can be used to reveal enemies. Several Halloween weapons are returning as well, including the Wood Stake Shotgun and Pumpkin Launcher.
These additions give players several options for dealing with opponents while exploring the updated Battle Royale map.
Cursed Cartridge Overrides Add New Effects
Fortnitemares 2026 also introduces cursed cartridge Overrides, which provide temporary gameplay effects. Depending on the Override, players can become invisible while sprinting, deal increased damage when their health is low, or disguise their squad as Halloween props.
The event also features Five Nights at Freddy’s animatronic bosses. Players who encounter these bosses can defeat them and possess an animatronic, allowing them to move around the map while using the character's abilities.
Horde Rush Returns
The Horde Rush limited-time mode is returning as part of Fortnitemares 2026. The mode offers another way for players to experience the Halloween event outside the standard Battle Royale format.
On October 8, an updated version of Nitemare Island will arrive in Reload. The Reload rotation will also feature the Stranger Things and Squid Grounds maps.
More Halloween Crossovers Are Coming
Fortnitemares 2026 will continue to add crossover content throughout October. Five Nights at Freddy’s Outfits featuring battle damage are already available in the Item Shop.
Additional Outfits and accessories are scheduled to arrive from A Nightmare on Elm Street, Black Clover, Hollow Knight, 99 Nights in the Forest, Hazbin Hotel, The Purge, Obsession, Slender Man, Beetlejuice, Predator: Badlands, and Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights.
With new locations, weapons, gameplay effects, bosses, and crossover cosmetics arriving throughout the month, Fortnitemares 2026 is set to provide Fortnite players with multiple Halloween-themed activities across Battle Royale, Horde Rush, and Reload.
