There is something satisfying about picking up a weapon once wielded against you. Gallanza and Maglielle, two bosses players fought through in the original Granblue Fantasy: Relink, are officially joining the playable roster when Granblue Fantasy Relink: Endless Ragnarok launches on July 9, 2026.
Cygames confirmed both characters with individual trailers and updated the official Endless Ragnarok site with full character profiles for each of them.
From boss arena to party member
Gallanza shows up as an enemy in chapter four of the original game, making him one of the earlier major boss encounters. His playstyle as a playable character stays true to what players already know about him: he fights with a polearm, cycling between wide slicing swings and more aggressive forward charges. The trailer also shows him leaping from above to drive the weapon down onto enemies below. Up-close and relentless, he looks built for players who want to stay in the thick of things.
Maglielle arrives later in the original story, first appearing as a boss in chapter six. Her playstyle sits at the opposite end of the spectrum from Gallanza. She fights at range, sending out blades to pressure enemies from a distance. Her Symphony Superior move expands that toolkit considerably, pulling in a hammer and gun alongside her usual blades. The range and variety there suggest she will play very differently from most of the existing roster.
What this means for the Endless Ragnarok roster
Here's the thing: converting bosses into playable characters is a move that tends to land well when the original encounters were memorable. Both Gallanza and Maglielle left an impression in the base game, and their move sets translate naturally into player-controlled kits rather than feeling like stripped-down versions of their boss forms.
The two characters also cover different playstyles, which matters for a game built around party composition. Gallanza fills the aggressive melee slot while Maglielle brings ranged pressure and move variety. Players who want to run a more mixed-range party now have more options to work with.
Granblue Fantasy Relink: Endless Ragnarok launches July 9, 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2, PS4, PS5, and PC. Both Gallanza and Maglielle will be available in the updated release.
July 9 is the date to mark
Endless Ragnarok is shaping up as the definitive version of one of the better action games to come out of Cygames. The Switch 2 version brings the game to a new platform entirely, and the expanded roster gives returning players a real reason to jump back in beyond just the new hardware option.
For anyone building their party ahead of launch, our Granblue Fantasy: Relink guides collection is a solid place to get familiar with the existing roster mechanics before Gallanza and Maglielle enter the mix on July 9.
