Our highly anticipated GAM3 Awards, a pivotal occasion within the realm of web3 gaming, is poised to make its grand comeback this December 2023. We are thrilled to introduce our diverse and illustrious jury lineup, which combines familiar faces from 2022 with fresh voices representing diverse sectors of web3 gaming. The new additions are particularly noteworthy, featuring key figures from web3 gaming venture capital firms, blockchain and ecosystem experts, infrastructure partners, content creators, in addition to well-established gaming leaders, and tech industry giants such as Amazon and Google.
We are proud to introduce one of our jury members Alex Wettermann, Head Of Gaming & Metaverse at Shima Capital. Alex is located in LA, a founding member of Chainforest, and a cofounder of Doubl3Tap. Previously, Alex was the Head of Blockchain at AlleyCorp where he led web3 investments and incubations. Before AlleyCorp, Alex ran token sales at CoinList netting over 100 million in sales. He was previously an IP Attorney at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius where he focused on both IP litigation and patent prosecution. Alex holds a JD from UC Hastings, and a BSE in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University.

1. What is the most enjoyable part of your role?
“Learning from and working with all the unbelievably creative + passionate gamers to push the space beyond its limits. Literal dream job for me as a diehard gamer who studied cryptography in school.”
2. How do you see the progress made in web3 gaming since last year?
“Games have been in builder mode which makes sense, a game takes time to refine + requires tinkering with the CAC / LTV black box until things make sense to scale - most games raised capital two years ago, so we will start to see the fruits of their efforts shortly.”
3. What is the most valuable addition web3 brings into gaming, from your perspective, if any?
“Using blockchain to enable new (i) experiences or (ii) methods of monetization.”
4. What is your outlook on 2024 and beyond for web3 gaming?
“Just getting started with experiments that will scale once traction is found. Many are on the sidelines waiting for case studies, but those cases are developing in front of our eyes. NFL Rivals, Midnight Society, Gunzilla, etc these are all unfolding in real time (and in varying capacities), lots to be learned from each and more. Current appetite is greater in Asia, which makes sense given the market's familiarity with financialized games, but this activity is spreading globally, just look at miHoYo.”
