More "Halo" Remakes Are On The Way ...

The Halo remake train has more stops than anyone expected. With Halo: Campaign Evolved, a full Unreal Engine 5 rebuild of the original 2001 game, already locked in for release later this year on PS5, Xbox, and PC, attention has now shifted to what comes next. According to a leaker who says they have source-verified proof, the answer is: all of it.

The claim and what backs it up

YouTube channel Rebs Gaming published a report this week stating that a new source provided direct proof of their identity before sharing the information, lending more weight than the usual anonymous tip. The claim, as reported by Rebs Gaming and picked up by Video Games Chronicle, is direct: the Halo 2 and Halo 3 remakes are definitely happening, with active development already underway at Halo Studios. Both are described as being in early development, so nobody should expect release dates any time soon.

Here's the thing: this isn't a rumor floating out of nowhere. The Combat Evolved remake is already a confirmed, incoming release, which makes the idea of a full trilogy rollout feel less like wishful thinking and more like a logical roadmap. Halo Studios reportedly has multiple projects in flight simultaneously, including the next mainline entry following Halo Infinite, and all of them are being built on Unreal Engine 5 for consistency across the new era of the franchise.

A skull modifier and some Brutes in the first game

One of the more interesting details buried in the report: elements from Halo 2 and Halo 3 may bleed into Campaign Evolved itself. Specifically, Brutes, the Jiralhanae enemies who became a major faction starting in Halo 3, could appear in the first game's remake through a planned new Skull modifier. Skulls have been a Halo staple for modifying difficulty and gameplay behavior, so adding one that introduces Brutes to the original campaign would be a clever way to bridge the trilogy while the sequels are still in the oven.

Where the trilogy stands right now

For context, the original Halo trilogy was developed by Bungie, who left the franchise after Halo Reach. Both Combat Evolved and Halo 2 received anniversary remasters years ago, and both are currently playable through Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC and Xbox. What Halo Studios is building now is a different proposition entirely: full remakes in Unreal Engine 5, not resolution bumps or asset swaps.

The scale of what's reportedly being planned is significant. Three full remakes of the games that defined an entire console generation, rebuilt from the ground up, alongside a brand new mainline Halo title. That's a packed slate for a studio that is still proving itself after the turbulent Halo Infinite era.

No release date beyond the 2026 window for Campaign Evolved has been confirmed. Keep an eye on the latest gaming news for any official movement from Halo Studios on what comes after.
