The full Halo trilogy remake is apparently happening whether Microsoft wants to confirm it or not. Leaker Rebs Gaming posted a three-minute video report over the weekend claiming that Halo Studios is actively developing remakes of both Halo 2 and Halo 3, and that two additional sources have now corroborated the story.

What the leaker actually said

Rebs Gaming was direct about the sourcing. One new source reportedly sent an unreleased video clip of the Halo: Campaign Evolved remake to verify their identity, and then confirmed that all three trilogy remakes are in active development. The Halo 2 and Halo 3 remakes are described as being in early development specifically.

The most interesting detail buried in the report: the source told Rebs that players will notice elements from Halo 2 and Halo 3 baked into the prequel missions of Campaign Evolved, including Brutes. According to the leak, Brute design draws from Halo Reach concept art, and their loadout includes the Brute plasma rifle and the Spiker. Rebs also mentioned that a new skull will let players make Brutes appear in the original missions, though he noted that some of the Brute-specific details came from a separate, unsubstantiated report.

The trilogy plan that keeps gaining traction

Here's the thing: this isn't the first time the Halo trilogy remake pipeline has surfaced. Reports about Halo Studios planning to rebuild all three original games have been circulating for months, and each new wave of leaks has added more detail rather than contradicting the previous ones. That consistency doesn't confirm anything, but it does make the story harder to dismiss outright.

Rebs Gaming also pointed to a Halo Studios job listing and a developer LinkedIn post as independent signals that a new multiplayer project is in the works alongside the remakes. The next mainline Halo game is apparently also somewhere in the pipeline. That's a lot of plates spinning at once for a studio that hasn't shipped anything yet under the Halo Studios name.

Timing and what it means for Campaign Evolved

One of the more telling claims in Rebs' report is that the Halo 2 and Halo 3 remakes are happening regardless of how well Campaign Evolved performs commercially. If accurate, that suggests Microsoft has already committed to the full trilogy rebuild as a long-term strategy rather than treating the first remake as a market test.

The report landed the same week that Kiki Wolfkill, a 28-year Microsoft veteran and former head of Halo film and TV, confirmed her departure from the company. Her exit follows Xbox's broader leadership transition under new CEO Asha Sharma. None of that directly connects to the remake reports, but it does paint a picture of a studio in the middle of a significant reset.

Campaign Evolved is reportedly targeting a summer release window, which means the Halo remake conversation is about to get a lot louder. If the game lands well, the pressure to move quickly on Halo 2 will be immediate. For more gaming news and coverage, check out the latest gaming news at GAMES.GG.
