A modder called Blurbs has done something that probably shouldn't be possible: he rebuilt Elden Ring inside Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar's sprawling western epic, complete with swords, sorcery, Scarlet Rot, and the infamous "You Died" screen.
The result is exactly as unhinged as it sounds, and somehow it works.
What Blurbs actually built
This isn't a texture swap or a simple reskin. According to Blurbs himself, "an unbelievable amount of work went into putting this mod together," and the footage backs that up. Red Dead Redemption 2 characters now wield massive swords and execute Elden Ring-style move sets, including heavy slashes and overhead strikes that feel lifted straight from the Lands Between.
The combat layer alone would be impressive enough. But Blurbs went further, building custom spells with unique effects that knock back enemies and apply damage over time, directly mirroring Elden Ring's Scarlet Rot mechanic. The UI has been overhauled to match too, with a health and mana bar sitting on screen and that dreaded "You Died" banner appearing whenever Arthur gets dropped.
info
The mod is not currently available for public download. Blurbs says he will "look into" uploading it, but for now the full playthrough video is the only way to see it in action.
Summons are in here as well. Blurbs integrated Twitch's text-to-speech functionality so that summon signs and messages are voiced live by Twitch chat during his playthrough. It's a clever workaround that adds a community layer the original Elden Ring never had.
The final boss is the real payoff
Here's the thing: the whole mod builds toward one moment. Blurbs constructed a 1:1 recreation of the cutscene that precedes Elden Ring's final boss battle, transplanted into Red Dead Redemption 2's world. Watching Arthur Morgan standing in for the Tarnished, framed by Rockstar's meticulously crafted open world, is genuinely surreal.
The attention to detail here is what separates this from most crossover mods. Most people who attempt something like this stop at cosmetics. Blurbs rebuilt mechanical systems from scratch.
Why this keeps happening with Red Dead Redemption 2
This isn't the first time the Red Dead Redemption 2 modding community has pulled off something like this. The same game was recently turned into a "legally distinct" Pokemon RPG by another modder, with Arthur's gang recast as gym leaders and wildlife serving as formidable foes. What most players miss is just how flexible Red Dead Redemption 2's PC modding tools have become since the game launched, making it one of the most productive sandboxes for creative modders working outside official channels.
Blurbs' other popular mods, including the Pokemon RPG conversion, are available through NexusMods. This Elden Ring crossover isn't up there yet, but given the reception the video has received, the demand for a public release is clearly there. Make sure to check out more:
