PlayStation Plus New Free Games

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, one of 2025’s standout RPG releases, has just received a limited-time trial on PlayStation 5 for PlayStation Plus Premium members. Without much fanfare, Sony has added a four-hour slice of the full game to its top-tier subscription, giving players a chance to experience Warhorse Studios' ambitious medieval RPG before committing to a purchase. As the RPG genre continues to dominate the release calendar this year, this move adds another major title to the list of high-profile experiences available through the service.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, one of the most talked-about RPGs of 2025, just got a surprise trial release on PlayStation 5—if you’re a PlayStation Plus Premium member. Sony quietly added a four-hour trial of the full game to the Premium tier, giving players a limited but solid chance to try before they buy.

The trial drops you into the full version of the game with no restrictions beyond the time limit, meaning you can explore, fight, and progress exactly as you would in the complete release. Once the four hours are up, you’ll need to purchase the full game to keep playing, but your progress carries over. If you’re subscribed to PS Plus Essential or Extra, though, you're out of luck—this one’s a Premium-only perk. The trial is available now and playable on PS5.

A Breakout Hit in a Massive RPG Year

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 launched back in February and quickly made its mark. Developed by Czech studio Warhorse Studios, the game racked up a 96% score on OpenCritic and has already sold over three million copies worldwide. Much like its predecessor, Deliverance 2 leans hard into grounded medieval realism, ditching fantasy tropes in favor of a historically inspired, story-driven experience.

It’s a deep game. Playthroughs can easily stretch past 100 hours, so while four hours might not sound like a lot, it’s more than enough to get a feel for the world, the combat system, and the story setup. Whether or not that’s enough to win you over, it’s a smart way to test the waters.

The RPG Genre Isn’t Slowing Down

The trial release comes as the RPG genre continues to dominate the gaming calendar. 2025 has already seen big names like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, and Assassin’s Creed Shadows hit consoles and PC. It’s shaping up to be one of the most competitive years for RPGs in recent memory.

And there’s more to come. Titles like Borderlands 4, Ghost of Yōtei, and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 are still on the way, making it clear that the second half of the year isn’t slowing down.

Why This Trial Matters

Timed trials aren’t new, but they’ve become more useful as RPGs grow in scale. With Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 offering a massive and immersive experience, a trial lets players get hands-on without committing to a full purchase. It’s also a smart way for Sony to highlight the value of the Premium tier of PlayStation Plus, especially as services compete to offer more than just a monthly game catalog.

If you’ve been on the fence about jumping into Deliverance 2, this trial might be the nudge you needed. Just be ready—once the four-hour clock starts ticking, you’ll have to make those hours count.
