Sony's September PlayStation Plus lineup is out early, and there are three games headed to Essential subscribers next month before the official announcement even drops.
The reveal comes from billbil-kun, the Dealabs-based leaker with a near-perfect track record on PS Plus monthly game reveals. Sony's official confirmation is expected on August 26, but at this point the lineup is effectively confirmed.

Three games, three very different vibes
The September lineup brings together Sniper Elite: Resistance, Chained Echoes, and Wobbly Life. It's a genuinely eclectic mix, which is either a great sign or a sign that Sony threw darts at a board, depending on how you feel about each game.
Sniper Elite: Resistance is the headliner here. Released in early 2025, it's only been out around a year and a half before landing on PS Plus, which is a reasonably fast turnaround for a major release. The game follows French Resistance fighter Harry Hawker during World War II, and it carries all the series hallmarks: long-range sniping, X-ray kill cams, and a sandbox approach to mission objectives. If you bounced off previous entries, this one won't convert you. If you love the formula, it's more of what works.
Chained Echoes is the one that should genuinely excite RPG fans. The indie JRPG from solo developer Matthias Linda launched in 2022 to serious acclaim, drawing comparisons to classic 16-bit era RPGs with its pixel art, mech combat, and dense world-building. It's the kind of game that flew under the radar for a lot of players despite being excellent, so PS Plus is a good way to finally fix that.
Wobbly Life rounds things out as the couch co-op wildcard. It's a physics-based open-world sandbox where you and friends complete jobs, cause chaos, and generally mess around. Think of it as a low-stakes party game that works best with someone on the couch next to you.

These three titles land in the Essential tier, the base level of PlayStation Plus that covers monthly free games, online multiplayer, and exclusive discounts. Players on Extra or Premium already get everything Essential offers, plus the Games Catalog and, for Premium subscribers, the Classics Catalog with PS1, PS2, and PS3 titles alongside cloud streaming and game trials.
Here's the thing: Chained Echoes alone makes September worth paying attention to, even if the other two don't hit your specific tastes. It's the kind of RPG that tends to disappear from people's backlogs forever, and a PS Plus drop is as good a reason as any to actually play it.
