New sales estimates are painting a pretty clear picture of which games have dominated PS5 so far in 2026, and Resident Evil Requiem is sitting at the top of the pile. Estimates from analytics firm Alinea Analytics put Capcom's latest horror entry at 3.5 million copies sold on PS5 alone, generating roughly $250 million in revenue. If you've been following the game's momentum, you can check out our early access guide to get a sense of just how much anticipation surrounded launch day.
These are estimates, not official figures. Neither Sony nor the individual publishers have confirmed the numbers. But Alinea Analytics has built a reputation for tracking physical and digital sales trends, and the data lines up with what we know about each game's reception.

How the top four break down
Here's the lowdown on each game's estimated performance:
The physical sales percentages tell an interesting story on their own. Analyst Rhys Elliott notes that both Resident Evil Requiem and 007 First Light are strong candidates for reselling after completion, given their relatively short playtimes. That drives physical disc purchases up, because players know they can recoup some cost at a trade-in counter.
007 First Light finds its footing
IO Interactive's Bond game has been one of the more surprising performers of the year. Two million copies on PS5 with $142 million in revenue is a strong debut for a new franchise entry, especially one launching into a crowded release window. The game has a post-launch roadmap in place, which should keep that number climbing through the second half of 2026.
About 21 percent of those sales were physical, which again points to players hedging their bets on a new IP. The key here is that post-launch support could shift the resale calculus over time as more content gets added.
Crimson Desert's momentum problem
Pearl Abyss had a strong launch with Crimson Desert, pulling in 1.9 million copies and $142 million on PS5. But the monthly breakdown raises a flag. The majority of sales landed in March and April, with May dropping to just 112,000 copies. That's a steep fall-off.
The 19.9 percent physical share is the lowest of the top three, suggesting Crimson Desert skewed more toward digital buyers who were comfortable committing to the full price upfront.
Forza Horizon 5 on PS5 is a quiet success story
Fourth place goes to Playground Games' Forza Horizon 5, which reportedly moved 1.2 million copies in 2026 alone. What makes that number land differently is context: this is a port of a 2021 Xbox title that only arrived on PS5 last year. Lifetime PS5 sales are now estimated at 6.2 million units.
That's a significant number for a game that wasn't even available on PlayStation for its first few years. It also sets up enormous expectations for Forza Horizon 6, which is reportedly heading to PS5 later this year. If the fifth game can hit 6.2 million on a platform it arrived on late, a day-one release for the sixth entry could push those numbers considerably higher.
What this means for gamers is that the PS5 install base is clearly hungry for variety, and Microsoft's willingness to bring its first-party catalog to Sony's console is paying off for both sides.
