The Sandbox and Upland have announced a partnership aimed at boosting community creation and cross-ecosystem engagement. This collaboration will establish each company's presence within the other's platform, combining their virtual worlds in a unique way.

The Sandbox is a virtual world (Metaverse) where players can build, own, and monetize their gaming experiences on the Ethereum blockchain. The Sandbox is best known for its two smash mobile hits The Sandbox (2011) and The Sandbox Evolution (2016), which combined generated 40 million downloads across iOS and Android.
In 2018, developer/publisher Pixowl decided to bring this successful User Generated Content (UGC) gaming IP and the large community of creators from mobile to the blockchain ecosystem. The goal was to disrupt existing game makers like Minecraft and Roblox by providing creators with true ownership of their creations as non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and reward them for their participation in the ecosystem.

Building Collaborative Spaces in the Metaverse
As part of the new partnership, Upland will build its headquarters within The Sandbox, while The Sandbox will create a neighborhood in one of Upland’s virtual cities. The initiative aims to enhance user interaction and expand opportunities for creators and players across both platforms.
To mark this collaboration, a joint design competition will be launched. Content creators can design for the Upland HQ or create voxel-styled structures for The Sandbox's plot in Upland. This competition will showcase the creativity of both communities.

Initially, The Sandbox will distribute virtual properties of its neighborhood in Upland to its LAND owners. Additionally, the Upland community will have opportunities to win SAND tokens and NFTs by completing tasks in The Sandbox, encouraging cross-platform engagement.
