Plume, a Layer 1 blockchain built on the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), has partnered with Sony Block Solutions Labs to bring real-world asset (RWA) staking and yield functionality to Soneium's ecosystem. The integration gives Soneium's more than 5 million users access to financial products that have historically been confined to traditional finance, with a focus on secure and scalable RWA adoption.

Plume will provide its interoperability technology, SkyLink, which enables assets to interact across multiple decentralized finance (DeFi) applications. Soneium users can now engage with asset-backed yield offerings such as tokenized U.S. Treasuries and private credit through Plume's infrastructure.
Plume CEO Chris Yin said the future of real-world asset finance (RWAfi) isn't just about moving assets onto a single blockchain. The priority is building infrastructure that lets real yield move securely and efficiently across different ecosystems.

Financial utility through blockchain
Soneium is an Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain developed by Sony and Startale's joint initiative, Sony Block Solutions Labs. The project has expanded into gaming and is working on web3-enabled mini-applications through the LINE messaging platform. Soneium recently partnered with Animoca Brands' Moca Network to incorporate digital identity systems and enhance gaming-related features.
With Plume's technology integrated, Soneium is offering more than digital entertainment. RWA staking gives users practical financial utility, using blockchain to facilitate access to yield-bearing products typically found in traditional markets.
Ryohei Suzuki, Director at Sony Block Solutions Labs, said the partnership reflects a commitment to increasing blockchain's relevance in financial services. Enabling access to real-world yield through tokenized assets is a significant step toward providing functional, mainstream applications for web3 technology.

Bridging traditional finance with web3
The collaboration between Plume and Soneium reflects a broader trend of merging traditional financial assets with decentralized platforms. By offering secure and scalable tools for real-world asset management, the partnership lowers the barrier for everyday users to participate in yield-generating financial activities on-chain.
As both platforms continue to develop, their joint efforts may contribute to a more interconnected financial landscape where blockchain technology supports real economic activity and user engagement beyond speculative applications. This partnership reflects ongoing efforts within the web3 space to create practical, regulated, and interoperable systems for managing and interacting with real-world financial instruments.
