Turkey’s Mobile App Revenue to Hit $1.65 Billion

Türkiye’s mobile market continues to grow steadily, with significant activity in both downloads and player engagement. Data analyzed from 5,000 partner apps between January 2023 and July 2025 provides a comprehensive view of how Turkish players are interacting with mobile apps and games. By the end of 2024, Türkiye ranked eighth globally for mobile app downloads, recording 3.66 billion downloads and a total of 101.5 billion hours spent in apps. Looking ahead, mobile app revenue in the country is projected to reach $1.65 billion by 2029.

Mobile Games Driving the Market

Mobile games play a central role in Türkiye’s digital entertainment landscape. In 2025, mobile game revenue is expected to reach $427.5 million, which represents almost half of the country’s total video game revenue. Turkish-developed games attract more than 30 million local players while also reaching audiences globally. Dream Games, known for the popular title Royal Match, stands out as the country’s leading game developer.

Growth Patterns and Player Activity

Mobile game installs in Türkiye grew by 12% year-on-year in 2024, with sessions rising by 8%. In the first half of 2025, installs increased by 4% while sessions grew by 12% compared to the previous year. When compared to the global market, which saw only a 1% rise in installs and a 2% increase in sessions, Türkiye shows relatively strong growth. The MENAT region grew by 9% in both metrics over the same period. Peak activity months were January and March, with January seeing 23% more installs and 9% more sessions, and March recording 12% more installs and 10% more sessions.

Certain game genres drove much of this growth. Adventure games saw an 89% year-on-year increase in downloads, while Idle RPG and RPG games grew 55% and 37%, respectively. Session growth was strongest in Racing games at 53%, Casual games at 50%, and both Hypercasual and Idle RPG at 44%. Leading genres by downloads included Hypercasual, Hybridcasual, and Action, while sessions were dominated by Music, Action, Idle RPG, and Strategy games.

Average session length in the first half of 2025 reached 32.8 minutes, up from 31.1 minutes in 2024 and 31.4 minutes in 2023. This is above both the MENAT regional average of 30.5 minutes and the global average of 29.9 minutes. Strategy, Board, and Puzzle games recorded the longest average play sessions, reflecting higher engagement in genres that require extended focus.

Despite longer play sessions, retention rates in Türkiye remain lower than global benchmarks. Day-1 retention was 19%, Day-7 retention 5%, Day-14 3%, and Day-30 1%. Globally, these figures are higher, with Day-1 at 26%, Day-7 at 12%, and Day-30 at 5%. Card games, Family games, and Puzzle games performed better than other genres for Day-1 retention, each maintaining around 23-25%. This indicates that while Turkish players spend more time per session, they are generally less consistent in returning to games compared to the global average.

Insights for Game Developers

For developers targeting the Turkish market, understanding these patterns is crucial. The mobile gaming audience in Türkiye favors games that can provide extended play sessions, yet retention remains a challenge. Localization and cultural adaptation, such as aligning game events with local holidays or integrating region-specific themes, can help improve engagement. Monitoring genre trends, payment methods, and player behavior will remain essential for studios seeking sustainable growth. The market also presents opportunities for web3 mobile games, particularly as developers experiment with blockchain-based features and local payment integration.
