Eight games gone by Halloween

Xbox Game Pass subscribers have until October 31 to play eight more titles before they leave the catalog. The departures cover a wide range of genres, from a beloved co-op mining shooter to two remastered '90s point-and-click adventures, and at least one of them is going to sting.

Here's the full list of what's disappearing:

  • Dead Static Drive
  • Wildgate
  • Deep Rock Galactic
  • Day of the Tentacle Remastered
  • Wartales
  • Full Throttle Remastered
  • Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
  • Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris

All eight titles exit on the same date. Game Pass members who want to keep any of them can pick them up at a 20% discount before the deadline.

The Double Fine situation

The removal that carries the most context is actually two games: Day of the Tentacle Remastered and Full Throttle Remastered. Both are Double Fine productions, and both are leaving Game Pass following Double Fine's separation from Xbox Game Studios in 2026. The studio going independent appears to be the direct reason these titles are getting pulled.

Here's the thing: these are genuinely great games. Day of the Tentacle Remastered is a classic LucasArts adventure rebuilt with high-resolution artwork and remastered audio. Full Throttle Remastered gives the same treatment to the biker gang road trip adventure from 1995. Neither one takes long to finish, either. Players can clear all achievements in each game in roughly three hours with a guide, so there's no excuse not to run through them before Halloween.

What most players miss is that no other Double Fine titles, including Psychonauts or Grim Fandango Remastered, have been confirmed for removal. For now, it's just these two.

What you're actually losing

Beyond the Double Fine pair, the list has some genuinely heavy hitters.

Deep Rock Galactic is the co-op mining shooter where four space dwarves blast through procedurally generated caves. It has been a Game Pass staple for years and has a deeply committed player base. Completing every achievement in the game takes an estimated 300 to 500 hours, so nobody's finishing that before October 31. But even a few sessions are worth it if you haven't tried it.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga covers all nine mainline Star Wars films, packs in over 300 playable characters and 100 vehicles, and spans 23 planets. Full completion sits somewhere between 80 and 100 hours. It's one of the biggest Lego games ever made, and losing it from the catalog is a real blow for families and Star Wars fans who haven't jumped in yet.

Wartales is a strategic RPG following a mercenary band through a medieval open world. It's a slow burn but a rewarding one, and full achievement completion reportedly runs 150 to 200 hours. Again, not a game you're finishing this month if you're starting fresh, but well worth buying at a discount if it sounds appealing.

Wildgate is the newer addition to this group. A PvPvE multiplayer shooter that mixes ship-to-ship space combat with fast-paced first-person action, it launched in July 2025 and has been a solid Game Pass inclusion.

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris rounds things out with isometric co-op action for up to four players set in the Egyptian underworld. It's the first four-player co-op entry in the Tomb Raider franchise's extended universe and holds up well for a group session.

Dead Static Drive is the oddest entry on the list. Best described as a Lovecraftian road trip through 1980s America, it's a survival horror game that flew under the radar for most subscribers.

October's second wave of removals

This isn't the first batch of games to leave Game Pass this month. Earlier in October, nine titles were removed, with Expedition 33: Clair Obscur as the most notable departure. A Plague Tale: Requiem, The Casting of Frank Stone, Donut County, and Evil West were also in that group.

That puts October's total Game Pass removals at 17 games across two waves. That's a heavier-than-usual month of cuts, though Microsoft has also been adding titles throughout October, including Battlefield 6.

October has been an active month for the catalog in both directions, and there's more worth playing than most subscribers realize.
