How to Unlock Every Runaways Class (Full List and Costs)

Picking the wrong class in Runaways does not just cost you a fight. It can cost you the entire run. The gap between a well-chosen class and a poor one shows up in your escape speed, your carrying capacity, your ability to crack a vault, and how long you survive when police pressure spikes. This tier list ranks every available class from S down to D based on the full picture: starting loadout, stat bonuses, cost, and how useful each class stays from the first robbery to the border.

S tier classes

These four classes offer the strongest combination of stats, starting equipment, and run-wide usefulness. Each one excels in a different way, so the best pick depends on your budget and playstyle.

Ex-Military

Cost: Unlocked separately | Loadout: Heavy Armor, Sniper, Heavy Bullet Pack, Large Backpack | Abilities: +30% melee strength, +15% running speed

Ex-Military has the strongest complete package in the game. Heavy Armor, a Sniper, a Heavy Bullet Pack, and a Large Backpack from spawn means you start every run with combat coverage, storage, and ammunition already solved. The +30% melee bonus is the highest among mobility-positive classes, and +15% running speed means you are not sacrificing escape potential to get it. For players who want to dominate both the robbery and the getaway, nothing else comes close.

Bounty Hunter

Cost: 300,000 Credz | Loadout: Machete, Pistol, Light Bullet Pack | Abilities: +20% running speed, +10% melee strength

Bounty Hunter is the best all-round class for most players. The +20% speed bonus applies everywhere: looting, repositioning, disengaging from police, and making the final escape. The Machete handles close-range threats while the Pistol and ammunition give you a ranged answer without needing to shop. The +10% melee bonus comes with no health or speed penalty, which makes the stat profile unusually clean. At 300,000 Credz it is a serious investment, but the performance holds up across every stage of a run.

Breacher

Cost: 550,000 Credz | Loadout: Medium Backpack, Shotgun, C4, Shotgun Bullet Pack | Abilities: +40% melee strength

Breacher is built for high-value targets. C4 gives you immediate vault utility, the Medium Backpack creates room for the payoff, and the Shotgun handles the close-range resistance you will face around robbery targets. The +40% melee bonus is the largest in the game with no attached movement or health penalty, so Breacher stays dangerous even between breach attempts. The 550,000 Credz price is steep, but spawning with storage, a firearm, ammunition, and explosive tools makes it one of the strongest endgame investments.

Smuggler

Cost: 45,000 Credz | Loadout: Small Backpack, Crowbar | Abilities: +20% running speed, -10% melee strength

Smuggler is the best value purchase in Runaways. For 45,000 Credz you get the same +20% running speed as Bounty Hunter, a backpack from spawn, and a Crowbar with robbery utility. The -10% melee penalty is real but manageable. Runaways rewards getting loot out, not winning every fight, so the ability to disengage and escape consistently outweighs slightly weaker melee. For farming, solo runs, and players still building their account economy, Smuggler punches far above its price.

warning
Do not confuse Smuggler's melee penalty with a combat dealbreaker. In practice, most profitable runs involve avoiding fights rather than winning them, so the -10% rarely matters.

Juggernaut

Cost: 850,000 Credz | Loadout: Light Armor, Minigun, Medium Backpack, Light Bullet Box | Abilities: +100% health, -20% running speed

Juggernaut doubles your health and spawns you with Light Armor, a Minigun, a Medium Backpack, and a full ammunition box. In coordinated crews or high-pressure combat scenarios, it is nearly impossible to push out of a contested area. The problem is equally extreme: -20% running speed is the largest mobility penalty in the current roster, and Runaways regularly asks you to disengage rather than stand and trade. At 850,000 Credz, the price and the weak escape game keep it out of S tier despite the raw combat power.

Gang Member

Cost: 170,000 Credz | Loadout: Blue Cow, Small Backpack, MAC, Light Bullet Pack | Abilities: +10% running speed, -5% health

Gang Member has one of the most complete starting loadouts in the game. Storage, a ranged weapon, ammunition, and a Blue Cow from spawn means very little of the early run is spent solving kit gaps. The +10% speed bonus is useful in most situations, and losing only 5% health is a mild price compared to what other classes sacrifice for their bonuses. Bounty Hunter eventually offers a cleaner stat profile, but Gang Member covers most of what a successful run needs for roughly half the cost.

Medic

Cost: 120,000 Credz | Loadout: Medic Bag x2, Light Armor, Medic Pack | Abilities: +20% health, -5% running speed

Medic is the most forgiving class in the game for players who take damage regularly. Two Medic Bags, a Medic Pack, and Light Armor from spawn, combined with +20% health, gives you far more room for mistakes during long or dangerous runs. The tradeoff is that Medic starts with no firearm and no backpack, so offense and carrying capacity still need to be solved through looting or shopping. Especially valuable in a crew. Solo players focused on fast cash loops will usually get more out of Smuggler or Gang Member.

B tier classes

Contractor

Cost: 70,000 Credz | Loadout: Mace, Pistol, Light Bullet Pack | Abilities: +10% melee strength, +5% health, -5% running speed

Contractor is a dependable combat starter at a low price. The Pistol and ammunition handle ranged threats while the Mace and melee bonus make close-range resistance easier to clear. The issue is what Contractor does not provide: no backpack, no robbery utility, and a -5% movement penalty that works against the escape phase. It works as a 70,000 Credz bridge into armed play, but it loses relevance quickly once Bounty Hunter is within reach.

Old CEO

Cost: 40,000 Credz | Loadout: Gold Ruby Necklace, Diamond, Gold Tiara, Diamond Ring | Abilities: -5% running speed, -15% health

Old CEO is a specialist economy class. Its entire starting loadout consists of valuables, letting you build an opening run around converting pre-supplied loot into cash rather than looting from scratch. The cost is steep in stat terms: -15% health and -5% running speed make Old CEO noticeably weaker once police pressure or player combat becomes serious. Useful when your goal is fast early economy, but there are much better choices for vault runs and contested servers.

Scout

Cost: 35,000 Credz | Loadout: Small Backpack, Bat | Abilities: +10% running speed, -5% melee strength, -20% health

The +10% speed and Small Backpack combination has genuine value for cheap loot-and-pawn runs when you are still building your account. The -20% health penalty is the problem. Scout becomes much less forgiving in contested houses or police encounters while also dealing slightly weaker melee damage. Smuggler costs only 10,000 Credz more, doubles the movement bonus, and removes the health penalty entirely. Unless those last 10,000 Credz are a genuine barrier, saving for Smuggler is the smarter call.

tip
Scout and Smuggler are often compared because of their similar price and speed focus. The difference is that Smuggler's -10% melee penalty is far less punishing in practice than Scout's -20% health reduction.

C and D tier classes

Brawler

Cost: 25,000 Credz | Loadout: Knuckle | Abilities: +5% melee strength, -10% running speed

The numbers do not favor Brawler. A modest +5% melee bonus is attached to a -10% running speed penalty, which is a bad trade in a game where escaping matters more than fighting. Starting with only the Knuckle leaves you without inventory space, ranged coverage, medical utility, or a meaningful robbery tool. It is the cheapest class with abilities, but saving another 10,000 to 20,000 Credz for Scout, or preferably Smuggler, gives substantially more value across an entire run.

Basic

Cost: Free | Loadout: None | Abilities: None

Basic costs nothing and gives you nothing. It is fine for learning the core loop before committing Credz, but every other class in the game provides some form of useful bonus or starting equipment. As soon as you have enough saved, move on.

How do class costs compare to their value?

Here is a full breakdown of every class with cost, key bonuses, and penalties side by side.

Loading table...

Which class should you pick based on your situation?

The right class depends on where you are in the game and how you play.

  • New player with limited Credz: Start with Smuggler at 45,000. The speed and backpack will carry you through early farming without the health penalty Scout imposes.
  • Solo player focused on efficiency:Bounty Hunter at 300,000 is the cleanest upgrade. Speed, melee, and a full starting kit with no downsides.
  • Vault and high-value robbery focus:Breacher at 550,000 gives you C4, storage, and the highest melee bonus in the game. Built exactly for this.
  • Crew play or contested servers:Juggernaut at 850,000 becomes much more viable when teammates can cover your escape. Doubling your health in a coordinated group is a serious advantage.
  • Sustain-focused or learning the game:Medic at 120,000 gives you the most room for mistakes. The lack of a firearm is the only real gap to fill.
