The fastest way to fall behind in Slime RNG is spending your first coins on the wrong upgrades
Slime RNG on Roblox has a deceptively wide upgrade tree, and if you just click whatever looks interesting, you'll hit a wall fast. The gap between a player who grabs Auto-Roll first and one who doesn't is enormous within the first 20 minutes. This guide breaks down the exact upgrade order to follow, what each system actually does, and where to find everything in the skill tree.
What upgrades should you unlock first in Slime RNG?
According to the Game8 walkthrough team's progression guide (last updated May 2026), there's a clear priority order that separates fast progressors from players who stall out.
Auto-Roll: your absolute first unlock
Auto-Roll does exactly what the name says: it rolls for slimes automatically in the background while you do other things. The reason it's the first unlock isn't just convenience. Rolls accumulate as a form of currency you spend on other upgrades, so every second without Auto-Roll active is a second you're not generating that resource. Unlock this before anything else, no exceptions.

Teleporter: quality-of-life that becomes mandatory
The Teleporter sits in the Player Skill Tree and lets you fast-travel between zones you've already unlocked. Early on it feels optional, but once you reach zones where crafting is available, running back manually becomes a serious time sink. Get this second.
The Teleporter is found in the Player Skill Tree specifically, not the General Tree. New players sometimes miss it because they're scanning the wrong section.
Goop Drops: setting up your Rebirth loop
Goop is a currency dropped by enemies, and it's the fuel for Rebirth. Rebirth resets your progress but keeps your slimes, upgrades, and items, while also improving your Luck and Goop stats for the next run. You won't need Goop immediately, but unlocking the Goop Drops upgrade from the Enemy Skill Tree early means you're passively stockpiling it for when the time comes. Our Slime RNG Goop farming guide covers the full Rebirth loop in detail.
Slime Slots: more slimes, more damage output
More Slime Slots means more slimes active on the field at once, which directly translates to faster enemy kills and faster coin generation. The upgrade sits in the top left of the Skill Tree. The more slimes you have fighting, the quicker you clear enemies, and the coin difference compounds over time.
Diamond Rolls: your safety net for rare slimes
Golden Rolls and Diamond Rolls both function as pity systems. After a set number of rolls without hitting a high-tier slime, the counter triggers and guarantees one. Diamond Rolls have a higher threshold count but unlock significantly rarer slimes than Golden Rolls. The two counters are tracked separately, so hitting your Golden Roll counter doesn't reset your Diamond Roll progress. This upgrade is in the bottom left of the Skill Tree.
Golden Rolls and Diamond Rolls use completely separate counters. Rolling a guaranteed slime from the Golden counter does not reset your Diamond counter.
How do you generate coins faster in Slime RNG?
Once you have the five priority upgrades above, coin generation becomes the main bottleneck. The sources here are consistent: Coin Income in the Loot Tree is the single best place to invest after your core unlocks.
The cost gap between early-game and mid-game upgrades is steep. Upgrades that cost a few hundred coins early can balloon into thousands later, so building a strong Coin Income base early prevents that wall from appearing.
Coin Income (Loot Tree)
This upgrade increases the number of coins dropped when you defeat enemies. Stack it as high as you can afford after your priority unlocks. The return on investment is immediate and visible.
More Enemies (General Tree)
Upgrading enemy spawn count gives you more targets to kill, which directly multiplies your coin intake. Once you unlock the Big, Shiny, and Huge enemy variants through further upgrades, those enemy types drop significantly more coins than standard ones.
Roll Speed (bottom right of Upgrade Tree)
Roll Speed is a dual-purpose upgrade. Faster rolls mean you're collecting slimes quicker, but rolls themselves also function as currency for other upgrades. Spending some rolls on Roll Speed pays dividends because you're generating that roll currency faster going forward.
Luck upgrades
Luck raises the probability of rolling higher-tier slimes. Pair Luck upgrades with Diamond Rolls and you'll hit rare slimes far more consistently. The two systems work together: Luck raises your baseline odds, Diamond Rolls guarantee a rare outcome after a set count regardless of Luck.
Potions can drop from enemies once you unlock the Potions upgrade in the Loot Tree. These grant temporary boosts to Luck, Roll Speed, Currency, and Ultra Luck, so farming enemies actively can supplement your passive Luck stat.

When should you Rebirth?
Rebirth resets your zone progress but carries over your slimes, upgrades, and items. Each Rebirth also improves your Luck and Goop stats for the new run, so later runs are meaningfully stronger than earlier ones. The game's progression guide recommends waiting until you've pushed well into your current run before triggering it, so you're entering the next cycle with a strong foundation rather than Rebirths early with little to show for it.
Leveling up your slimes with Food (unlocked via the Food upgrade in the Loot Tree) before a Rebirth is also worth doing. Slime levels carry over and their higher stats make early enemy clearing much faster on the next run.

Crafting: the mid-game upgrade that changes everything
Heaven is the seventh zone and the first location where crafting becomes available. Once you find recipe scrolls scattered across zones, you can craft slimes that may be more powerful than anything you'd roll naturally. Unlocking the Teleporter early (Priority 2 above) is what makes getting to crafting zones fast and painless. If you want to track down every recipe scroll location, the Slime RNG crafting recipe locations guide has all 8 documented.
Crafting is only available starting at the Heaven zone (zone 7). Don't expect to access it in the early zones, even if you have recipes in your inventory.
