WoW Forever leg enchants do not come from an enchanter: none of the 40 new Enchanting items spotted in the BlizzCon demo touch pants. The slot runs on arcanums and leatherworking kits. BiS is your class enchant from Zanza the Restless in Zul'Gurub. The pre-ZG ceiling is a Dire Maul arcanum: Arcanum of Focus for casters and healers, Arcanum of Rapidity for physical damage, Arcanum of Protection for tanks. The budget answer is a Rugged Armor Kit or a Lesser Arcanum from Burning Steppes.
Every arcanum below fits head or legs. One permanent enchant per item, and whatever you apply next erases what was there. That is the entire rulebook for Classic Plus leg enchants, and the Forever demo added nothing to change it.

Every Leg Enchant Available in Forever

Dire Maul Arcanums From Lorekeeper Lydros
The Lorekeeper Lydros turn-ins are the realistic endgame for most of the server, because a WoW Forever arcanum from the Dire Maul library needs no raid, only patience and a wallet. Each quest requires Elven Legends done first, pays 500 Shen'dralar reputation, and is repeatable indefinitely.
| Quest | Hand in | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| Libram of Rapidity | Libram of Rapidity, 1 Pristine Black Diamond, 2 Large Brilliant Shard, 2 Blood of Heroes | Arcanum of Rapidity |
| Libram of Focus | Libram of Focus, 1 Pristine Black Diamond, 4 Large Brilliant Shard, 2 Skin of Shadow | Arcanum of Focus |
| Libram of Protection | Libram of Protection, 1 Pristine Black Diamond, 2 Large Brilliant Shard, 1 Frayed Abomination Stitching | Arcanum of Protection |
- The three Dire Maul librams drop from elites inside the instance, with Gordok Brute as a listed source.
- The Pristine Black Diamond is a rare drop from dungeon and raid elites, which is why it costs more than the rest of the recipe combined.
- Large Brilliant Shards come from disenchanting blue items of level 51 and above.
- Blood of Heroes lies on the ground in Western Plaguelands and Eastern Plaguelands, and picking it up spawns a hostile elite.
- Skin of Shadow drops only in Scholomance and Frayed Abomination Stitching drops only in Stratholme.
Lesser Arcanums From Mathredis Firestar
Mathredis Firestar sits at Burning Steppes (65.0, 23.6) and charges 30 gold plus a Black Diamond per turn-in, on top of the quest items. Librams for these recipes drop off level 50+ humanoids across the world, so any elite farm near level 55 can yield one. Libram of Rumination and Libram of Constitution are the two most worth your gold for the leg slot.
- Black Diamonds, Burning Essence, Black Blood of the Tormented, and Eye of Kajal all come out of Blackrock Depths, the last three from the Dark Coffer in The Vault.
- Crystal Spire, Crystal Ward, and Crystal Force are pylon turn-ins in Un'Goro Crater, requiring ten crystals of two colors each.
- Night Dragon's Breath and Whipper Root Tuber require Cenarion Plant Salve used on the Corrupted Night Dragon and Corrupted Whipper Root plants in Felwood.
- Lung Juice Cocktail and Gizzard Gum come from the repeatable turn-ins in Blasted Lands.
Zul'Gurub Class Enchants From Zanza
WoW Forever Zul'Gurub enchants are the best stats this slot will ever see, and they cost three things: Friendly reputation with the Zandalar Tribe, one Primal Hakkari Idol, and one class-specific Punctured Voodoo Doll. The idol drops from Jin'do the Hexxer and Bloodlord Mandokir at roughly 30 percent; the doll hides in Jinxed Hoodoo Piles that occasionally mind control the looter. Zanza waits on Zanza's Rise beyond High Priest Venoxis. The quest is repeatable, so both helm and pants can each receive one.
Savage Guard is available from the same NPC at Honored reputation, and it consumes one finished Dire Maul arcanum as payment. Ice Guard costs 10 Insignia of the Crusade and 30 gold at Light's Hope Chapel. Both are resistance swaps, not everyday wear.
Best Leg Enchant per Class and Role
The best leg enchant WoW Forever players can equip is always the ZG enchant for their class, with one caveat: most ZG enchants are tuned for one spec, so off-specs fall back to Dire Maul arcanums.
Forever adds race and class combinations that never existed before, but the enchant follows the class, not the race. A Skyborne mage still wants Presence of Sight.

Non-Enchanter Options by Profession
The WoW Forever Enchanting contribution to the leg slot is zero. The new formulas cover rings, necks, off-hands, bracers, gloves, cloaks, and weapons. The following professions and reputations are what actually feed your pants.
- Leatherworking owns the slot, with Rugged Armor Kit at 250 skill from 5 Rugged Leather and Thick Armor Kit at 200 skill from 5 Thick Leather and 1 Silken Thread.
- Leatherworking also unlocks the Forever-only Mystic Rugged Armor Kit and Forceful Thick Armor Kit, which upgrade the old kits and add Spell Power or Attack Power respectively.
- Core Armor Kit requires 300 Leatherworking, 3 Core Leather, and 2 Rune Thread; it soulbinds the pants and depends on Molten Core leather.
- Tailoring gets Embroidery for cloth gear in Forever, but Blizzard has not revealed the bonuses or any spellthread equivalent yet.
- Blacksmithing gets belt buckles for the waist slot, and nothing for legs.
- Engineering has no announced leg attachment.
- Reputation carries the rest through Zandalar Tribe, Shen'dralar, Argent Dawn, and the Azeroth Commerce Authority.
Every WoW Forever armor kit from the new recipes is Bind on Equip once crafted, so non-leatherworkers can buy them on the auction house. The vendor sits in Redridge Mountains under the Azeroth Commerce Authority; exact stat values were not readable in the demo footage.
Material Cost and Application
| Enchant | Gold at the NPC | Pain point | Trade |
|---|---|---|---|
| ZG class enchant | None | Primal Hakkari Idol | Bind on pickup |
| Dire Maul arcanum | None | Pristine Black Diamond | Bind on pickup |
| Lesser Arcanum | 30 gold | Black Diamond and BRD coffers | Bind on pickup |
| Ice Guard | 30 gold | 10 Insignia of the Crusade | Your armor only |
| Rugged Armor Kit | None | 5 Rugged Leather | Tradeable |
Application is a right-click on the item and a left-click on the pants. No trainer, no skill, no enchanter tip required. Arcanums bind on pickup, so always buy the raw materials and complete the quest yourself.
Budget Option vs BiS Option
BiS leg enchants in WoW Forever demand a raid and luck; the budget option demands 5 Rugged Leather. The difference for a DPS warrior is 1% haste versus 40 armor, so invest in the better enchant once you stop replacing pants every week.
| Budget level | Physical | Caster | Tank |
|---|---|---|---|
| Leveling | Heavy or Thick Armor Kit | Heavy or Thick Armor Kit | Heavy or Thick Armor Kit |
| Fresh 60 | Rugged Armor Kit or Voracity | Rumination or Voracity | Constitution or Tenacity |
| Dungeon geared | Arcanum of Rapidity | Arcanum of Focus | Arcanum of Protection |
| Raid | ZG class enchant | ZG class enchant | ZG class enchant |
What Overwrites, What Stacks, When to Re-Enchant
- Any arcanum, ZG enchant, Guard, or armor kit overwrites whatever permanent enchant the pants already had.
- Temporary effects such as oils, sharpening stones, and shaman imbues never remove a permanent leg enchant.
- The same arcanum on helm and pants stacks fully, because they are two separate items with two separate slots.
- An armor kit and an arcanum never coexist on one pair of pants.
- Re-enchant only when the new pants will survive at least a few raid weeks, because the old enchant is lost with the old pants.
- Use armor kits on transitional pants and save the ZG enchant for the pair you expect to keep until the next tier.
Order of operations for leg enchants in WoW Forever: kit while leveling, Lesser Arcanum at 60, Dire Maul arcanum once geared, Zanza when the raid opens. Skip a step if your bank allows it.
FAQ
Q: Can enchanters enchant pants in Forever?
No. The Forever enchanting formulas shown so far skip the leg slot entirely, so arcanums and armor kits carry it.
Q: What goes on healer legs before Zul'Gurub?
Arcanum of Focus from Lorekeeper Lydros in Dire Maul (+8 spell damage and healing), then your class enchant from Zanza once ZG opens.
Q: Does an armor kit stack with an arcanum?
No. Both use the single permanent enchant slot on the pants, so applying one silently deletes the other.
Q: Can the same arcanum go on helm and pants?
Yes. Head and legs are separate items with separate enchant slots, so two identical arcanums stack completely.
Q: Is a Lesser Arcanum worth buying while leveling?
Rarely. It costs 30 gold plus a Black Diamond, so use cheap armor kits until your pants stop changing weekly.
