Crafting is a major part of staying alive in Breathedge 2. Most recipes can be made straight from the crafting menu by pressing C, provided the required resources are already in the inventory. The system itself is simple, but figuring out which materials unlock new recipes and which resources are worth saving can make the early game much easier.

How does crafting work in Breathedge 2?
Most crafting in Breathedge 2 can be done directly through the crafting menu. Players do not need to return to a dedicated crafting bench every time they want to make a basic tool or consumable. If the recipe has already been unlocked and all required materials are available, the item can be crafted immediately.
Blueprints are not all available from the beginning. Several recipes appear after collecting a particular resource for the first time, while others are connected to story or quest progression.

Tools
The following four tools have documented crafting recipes in the current Early Access build. Scrap, Cutter, and Thumper are available from the beginning, while the Twister is unlocked through quest progression.
Breathedge 2 also includes other tools such as the Spraytron, but it is separate from the four crafting recipes covered below.
The Twister is the main progression-based recipe in this group. Unlike the three starter tools, its blueprint becomes available after completing the Three Antennas quest.
Because Aluminum, Plastic, and Wires are all required for the Twister, keeping a reserve of these materials can save some extra scavenging once the recipe becomes available.
Supplies
Survival supplies cover healing, oxygen, and other consumables that can quickly become important during longer exploration runs.
Alcohol serves two purposes because it can be crafted as its own item while also being required for Medkits. Players planning to carry several healing items should account for that before spending their entire Alcohol supply.

Equipment
Equipment recipes provide utility rather than functioning as standard gathering tools. Some unlock when their associated material is discovered, while the Backpack requires a specific world interaction.
The Backpack requires more setup than the other equipment recipes because its blueprint is tied to the Painted Corpse interaction rather than simply collecting a crafting material.
It is also one of the more expensive early recipes. Titanium is particularly important here, so players working toward the Backpack should avoid spending any they find unless it is necessary.

How do upgrades work in Breathedge 2?
Breathedge 2 uses removable upgrade modules instead of relying entirely on straightforward tier upgrades. Different parts fit into specific module categories and can modify tool damage, processing speed, storage capacity, or spacesuit protection.
Tool modules are handled through the Workbench, while spacesuit modifications use the Wardrobe. Utility equipment such as Kettle Bobby and the Nutri-Pack-O-Mat also accept compatible modules.
The main module categories include Heft, Edge, Handle, Protection, and Container.

Tool upgrades
Only Scrap, Cutter, and Thumper currently have documented upgrade slots among the early Chapter 1 tools.
For raw damage, the Barbell Plate provides the largest listed improvement for Scrap at +20. The Jaws module also provides a stronger Edge option for both Cutter and Thumper than Scissors.
Scrap can additionally accept Handle-type modules, giving players another way to modify the tool beyond its Heft slot.
Station upgrades
Both Kettle Bobby and the Nutri-Pack-O-Mat can be improved using scavenged parts.
Kettle Bobby uses Filter-type parts to change processing performance and Container parts to modify capacity. The Nutri-Pack-O-Mat uses its own processing component along with Container upgrades.
Among the listed Kettle Bobby filters, the Knitted Teddy Bear provides the highest processing increase at +0.6. For storage, the Plastic Barrel provides a substantial +50 capacity increase when used as a Container module.
These parts are modules rather than permanent linear upgrades. That distinction matters because a stronger component does not necessarily require players to purchase or unlock every weaker version first.
What materials you should collect first?
A few resources appear repeatedly across the crafting recipes, making them more useful to stockpile than materials tied to only one item.
Plastic has particularly broad use. It is required for the Cutter, Thumper, Twister, Flashlight, and Backpack. Aluminum is also important because it appears in the Cutter, Twister, Gas Tank, and Backpack.
Metal remains another core resource, especially early on. Scrap, Cutter, Thumper, and Purified Oxygen all require it.
Keeping a healthy supply of these three materials reduces the chances of reaching a new recipe only to discover that basic components are missing.
Wires become increasingly important once players begin working toward the Twister, Gas Tank, and Flashlight. Unlike basic Metal and Plastic, several Wires can disappear quickly once multiple equipment recipes become available.
