Kittens are the smallest pets you can tame in Crimson Desert, and unlike every other creature you bond with, they never grow up. That means the tiny ball of fur you pick up at Jijeong Temple stays a kitten permanently. Getting one takes a bit of planning since the location is locked behind story progress, but once you're there, the taming process is straightforward if you bring the right food.
Where do you find kittens in Crimson Desert?
Kittens are located at Jijeong Temple in the Serpent Marsh region. To reach Serpent Marsh, head south from Demeniss. The area may be completely inaccessible until you reach Chapter 9 of the Main Quest, so if you're trying to get there early and hitting a wall, that's why.
Once you arrive at the temple, the kittens are easy to miss. They're tiny, and they tend to keep their distance from Kliff, who is, by any measure, an imposing figure. Keep your eyes on the ground and scan carefully around the temple grounds rather than looking at eye level.

Crimson Desert Guide: How to Find and Tame Kittens
Slow down and sweep the area methodically. These kittens sit low to the ground and can blend into the environment, especially if you're moving at full speed through the temple.
How do you tame kittens in Crimson Desert?
Taming kittens requires either Fish Fillet or Milk. Each successful feeding grants +35 Trust, which is the highest trust gain from any single food item available for kittens. There is also Grilled Fish, which gives a lower +20 Trust per feeding if you're struggling to source the other two options.
The feeding process has a specific order that trips up a lot of players:
- Pick up the kitten using Square (PlayStation) or X (Xbox).
- Open your inventory and select the food item, then choose Discard.
- Drop the kitten near the discarded food.
- The kitten should approach and begin eating.
If the kitten runs away from Fish Fillet, switch to Milk, and vice versa. Each kitten has a preference, and forcing the wrong food will just send it sprinting in the opposite direction.
How to get Fish Fillet
Fish Fillet is not sold directly. You need to acquire raw Fish first, either by purchasing it from a Fishing Shop or by catching fish from rivers yourself. Once you have the raw Fish in your inventory, select it and press Clean to convert it into Fish Fillet.
How to get Milk
Milk is the easier option to source quickly. You can buy it directly from Grocer Shops in several towns, including Hernand, Demeniss, Delesyia, and other cities across the map. No processing required.
What else can you do with your kitten pet?
Once tamed, your kitten becomes a proper companion. Pearl Abyss built out a full pet system in Crimson Desert that goes beyond just having animals follow you around. You can customize pet names and even equip them with accessories and outfits, giving each one a distinct personality beyond just their species.
The pet system in Crimson Desert is deep enough that it's worth spending time with, and kittens are one of the more rewarding companions to track down given how much effort goes into reaching Jijeong Temple in the first place.
