Sotdae of Bond in Crimson Desert

The Sotdae of Bond is one of Crimson Desert's more low-key additions, slipped into the game with patch 1.04.00 and easy to miss entirely. It functions as a bird feeder you can drop anywhere on the map, attracting nearby birds and building enough trust with them to keep them as pets. The catch: you have to earn it through a specific faction quest, and the item has a habit of vanishing from your inventory without warning.

How do you get the Sotdae of Bond?

The Sotdae of Bond is a reward from the Trembling Woods faction quest (also referred to in some sources as "The Unreachable Village"), which falls under the Pororin Forest Guardians tab in the Hernand faction quest list. Arkin is the key NPC here.

To unlock this quest, head to Pororin Village on the map. Getting there is straightforward, but triggering the quest requires you to get knocked out (tranquilized) three times while approaching the village. Once that happens, the quest opens up. Your objective is to retrieve the Pororin Relic, which sits on top of a walking tree in Pororin. Return it to Arkin, and the Sotdae of Bond is yours.

How to unlock the quest

  • Travel to Pororin Village in Hernand
  • Get tranquilized three times while approaching the village
  • Accept the Trembling Woods faction quest from Arkin
  • Retrieve the Pororin Relic from the top of a walking tree
  • Return the relic to Arkin to receive the Sotdae of Bond

How do you use the Sotdae of Bond to tame birds?

Once the Sotdae of Bond is in your inventory, you can place it anywhere on the map. Equip it from your inventory, hold RB/R1 to aim, then press Y/Triangle to plant it on the ground. On PC, access the Sotdae of Bond from your inventory, choose a valid placement spot, hold the Place button, and press Drop.

With the feeder placed, approach it and interact using the Fill Bird Feeder option. You can load it with raw meat, fruits, seeds, grain, and other food items. Birds in the area will come to eat, and each feeding session builds Trust with them. Once Trust is high enough, you can keep them as pets.

To pick the feeder back up, aim your lantern at it to display the Take option.

What happens if the Sotdae of Bond goes missing?

This is probably the most common frustration with the item. If you move too far from where you placed the feeder, the game automatically removes it from the world and logs it as a Recoverable Item. You will receive a notification when this happens.

To get it back, go to Greymane Camp in Howling Hills and find Carl, the Provisions Keeper. Interact with him, navigate to Manage Provisions, then select Recover Items. The Sotdae of Bond will appear in that list and can be retrieved for 1 Silver.

The Sotdae of Bond is a small but satisfying part of Crimson Desert's pet system. Getting knocked out three times on purpose to start a quest is exactly the kind of odd design Pearl Abyss enjoys, and it means plenty of players walk right past the whole thing. Now that you have the feeder, the bird collection side of the game opens up considerably. For more Crimson Desert tips and walkthroughs, browse the latest guides on GAMES.GG.
