Deer & Boy: Complete Achievement Guide — All 28 Trophies

Deer & Boy is a dialogue-free cinematic platformer about a boy, a deer, and the bond they build across a journey neither of them asked for. The story takes care of itself — most trophies pop just from playing. The tricky part is the handful of 90-point achievements that demand a flawless run through some of the game's most tense sequences. This guide covers every one of the 28 achievements, with focused breakdowns for the ones that will actually give you trouble.

How many achievements does Deer & Boy have?

Deer & Boy has exactly 28 achievements worth a combined 1000 Gamerscore (or the equivalent in PlayStation trophies). The majority unlock automatically as you progress through the story. Seven achievements require specific actions or flawless performances, and those are where most players lose time.

Story achievements: what unlocks automatically

These 14 achievements trigger through normal story progression. You cannot miss them on a standard playthrough.

Extra action achievements: easy pickups you can miss

Three achievements reward optional interactions that are easy to skip if you are not paying attention.

Free hug (15 points) — Press C on PC or the cuddle button on console to hug the deer for the first time. Do this as soon as you have the deer with you.

Best friend forever (55 points) — Cuddle the deer at every stage of its growth from small fawn through to fully grown. Missing even one growth stage means reloading. Make it a habit to cuddle after every major story beat.

Give me five! (15 points) — When the dark matter friend appears in The Mine, press the interact button while standing near them to high-five. Easy, but only available in that specific chapter.

You got what you asked for... (15 points) — Also in The Mine, let the dark matter friend launch you directly into an obstacle. It reads like a punishment but it is intentional. Let it happen once.

How to unlock the 90-point challenge achievements

These five achievements are the ones that separate a casual playthrough from a full completion. Each one requires a flawless run through a specific sequence. If you get caught or hit once, you need to restart from the beginning of that chapter.

How to unlock Keep a Low Profile (boar stealth, Chapter 11)?

Keep a Low Profile (90 points) requires finishing the boar sequence in The Dark Matter Boar chapter without being seen once. The boar signals its attention with a purple light and a low synth growl. Move only when neither of those is pointing toward you.

  • On the outdoor porch of the small building, drop to the ledge below and walk behind the reeds to stay hidden in the water.
  • Cross between the jetties the moment the boar looks away. Movement is slower in water, so you need maximum time.
  • At the last jetty, grab the white rope on the beached boat and drag it through the water with you. The boat blocks the boar's line of sight and the boar does not react to the boat moving at all.
  • Later, when you are under the building and the boar returns, pull down the planks to attract it, then wait for it to turn and walk away before moving.
  • At the second building, jump up to the ledge above the planks. Do not pull those planks down from outside. Drop through the floor hole and pull them from inside instead. Pulling from outside attracts the boar and ends your attempt.
  • The achievement pops after the cutscene when the boy finds the bike.

How to unlock Do Not Disturb (factory stealth)?

Do Not Disturb (30 points) requires crossing the factory in The Factory chapter without being spotted a single time. The factory stealth section is shorter than the boar sequence but the patrol patterns leave less margin. Move between cover points during patrols and do not rush.

How to unlock Forbidden Fruit (factory rescue)?

Forbidden Fruit (90 points) requires pressing the correct button to save the deer from the apple crate on your first attempt in The Factory. Pay attention to which button is highlighted before you commit.

How to unlock Running Man (underground creature escape)?

Running Man (90 points) requires escaping the dark matter creatures in The Underground without being caught once. The sequence is a straight run with obstacles. Keep moving, do not stop to look back, and prioritize clearing gaps over anything else.

How to unlock Close Call! (wolf chase, Chapters 35–36)?

Close Call! (90 points) is the final major challenge. The wolf chase begins in Chapter 35 — you need to run that chapter to trigger the sequence in Chapter 36, so failing means replaying both.

Here is the exact route:

  • After the cutscene showing the corrupted wolves surrounding the boy and deer, immediately run right and slide down the snow.
  • Keep running right, climbing over logs and jumping crevices.
  • At the next slide, jump to the wooden platform to avoid the wolf below, then sidle past the boxes.
  • Jump the gap, climb down the orange-marked ledge, and go under the wooden planks to the right.
  • Interact with the lever to send the barrel rolling down the hill — this stops the wolf behind you.
  • Quickly jump up to the wooden platform again, then jump right to avoid the second wolf.
  • Clear the final snowy platforms and the dramatic leap cutscene will trigger.
  • Once you land on the other side and begin walking against the blizzard, Close Call! pops.

How to unlock Flawless Derby (deer riding sequence)?

Flawless Derby (90 points) requires completing the deer-riding sequence in The Final Ride without hitting any obstacles or missing any jumps. This is the last major sequence in the game. Take your time reading the obstacle timing before committing to each jump.

How to unlock the Hidden Room achievement?

Hidden Room (90 points) is the most obscure achievement in the game. The room is located in The Underground, in the area where you climb up into a vent and use a lever to turn on the power. Look for the door with three lights above it, to the right of that lever.

To open it, you need to complete three lever sequences in the correct order:

  • Pattern 1: Down, Down, Down, Up
  • Pattern 2: Up, Down, Down, Up
  • Pattern 3: Up, Up, Down, Up

There is one hint available in the game. After checkpoint 25, fall through the vent into the theater room and open the door to the left (hold the interact button and push). The pattern hint is visible on the screen inside.

The six 90-point achievements account for 540 of the total 1000 Gamerscore. Getting those six right is what the completion run is really about.
