Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 Weapon Tier List: Best Guns Ranked

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 brings a fresh roster of 17 weapons, a new Rivalries Board that gates some of the best guns behind Rivalry Points, and two boss encounters worth fighting for. The meta has shifted noticeably from last season: shotguns are dominant again, the Thunder Burst SMG got a hit-scan upgrade that makes it far more threatening at range, and the Combat Assault Rifle received a buff that turned it into a laser at mid-range. Here's the full breakdown of every weapon, ranked from the ones that win games to the ones you drop the moment something better appears.

How Does the Tier System Work?

Every weapon in Chapter 7 Season 2 falls into one of five tiers, based on raw damage output, consistency across skill levels, effective range, and how easy the gun is to actually obtain in a match. Mythic boss weapons occupy their own category at the top because their power level sits above the standard loot pool.

  • SS Tier: Mythic boss drops and weapons so strong they distort the meta around them.
  • S Tier: High-damage, versatile guns that work at most rarities and in most players' hands.
  • A Tier: Solid choices that perform best at Epic or Legendary rarity.
  • B Tier: Situational weapons that reward experience but won't carry a lobby on their own.
  • C Tier: Early-game filler. Drop these the moment something better appears.

SS Tier

These four guns sit above everything else in the loot pool. Two are Mythic boss drops, so you'll need to fight for them. The other two are standard loot that happens to be broken.

Chaos Reloader Shotgun

The Chaos Reloader Shotgun is the best non-Mythic weapon in the game right now. Body shot damage is already high enough to threaten opponents, and headshots push it into near-one-shot territory. It has dethroned the Iron Pump Shotgun from last season's top spot, which tells you how strong it is.

Vector 7 DMR

The Vector 7 DMR has become the go-to rifle for players who want range and flexibility. Bullet drop is present, but once you account for it, this gun performs at both mid and long range. A lot of high-level players have made it their primary AR slot pick this season.

Dark Voyager's Obliterator Shotgun (Mythic)

The Dark Voyager's Obliterator Shotgun is a Mythic boss drop that matches the Chaos Reloader for raw power. Fighting for it is worth the risk if you land near the boss location early.

Ice King's Gloves (Mythic)

Ice King's Gloves come with multiple abilities, making them one of the more unique Mythic items in recent memory. Beat the Ice King boss and you take these with you. Leaving them behind would be a mistake.

S Tier

Each of these five weapons can carry a match in the right hands. None of them require a boss kill to obtain, which makes them the realistic backbone of most winning loadouts.

Combat Assault Rifle

The Combat Assault Rifle was buffed heading into this season, and the difference is noticeable. Fast fire rate, high DPS, and low recoil combine to make it one of the easiest ARs to use effectively. It can track players moving through the air, which matters more than ever given the traversal items in the current pool.

Nemesis Assault Rifle

Players who find the Combat AR too twitchy tend to prefer the Nemesis Assault Rifle. The fire rate is slower, but each shot hits harder and the recoil pattern is easier to manage over distance. Good alternative if you're building a more deliberate playstyle.

Thunder Burst SMG

The Thunder Burst SMG received a hit-scan conversion this season, which pushed it from a decent close-range option into a genuinely threatening weapon at medium distance. Hit-scan removes travel time from the equation, so what you aim at is what you hit. That change alone bumped it up significantly in the rankings.

Iron Pump Shotgun

Last season's top shotgun now sits just below the Chaos Reloader. It's still excellent, just no longer the best option in its class. If you can't find the Chaos Reloader, the Iron Pump Shotgun is a perfectly viable replacement.

Lawful Heavy Impact Tracking Rifle

The Lawful Heavy Impact Tracking Rifle brings a tracking mechanic to long-range engagements, which sounds overpowered until you realize it demands genuine skill to handle consistently. That skill ceiling is the only reason it isn't in SS Tier.

A Tier

Twin Hammer Shotguns

The Twin Hammer Shotguns don't hit as hard as either SS Tier shotgun, but they're a legitimate choice when nothing better is available. Their value scales noticeably at Epic and Legendary rarity.

Twin Mag SMG

The Twin Mag SMG lacks the Thunder Burst's hit-scan advantage, but it still performs well at higher rarities. Treat it as a secondary option if the Thunder Burst isn't available.

B Tier

These weapons aren't bad, they're just specific. Each one has a scenario where it shines and a much larger set of scenarios where it doesn't.

  • Lawful Shockwave Rocket Launcher: High damage potential with added shockwave utility, but requires real skill to use without hurting yourself. The Rivalry Point cost makes it a hard sell for most players.
  • Lawful Explosive Mammoth Pistol: High damage, very slow fire rate. Best in experienced hands that can place shots accurately.
  • Seven's Power Gloves: Primarily a traversal tool that also deals damage. Don't expect to win gunfights with it.
  • Seven Cluster Cannon: Limited ammo, medium damage. Fun to use, not worth dropping an S Tier weapon for.

C Tier

  • Pistol: Functional but immediately replaceable. Drop it the moment a Thunder Burst SMG or better appears.
  • Bouncing Boomstick: Dynamite with unpredictable bounce physics. Newer players will frequently damage themselves with it. Very situational even for experienced players.

What's the Best Loadout in Chapter 7 Season 2?

The strongest general loadout right now pairs the Chaos Reloader Shotgun with the Combat Assault Rifle or Vector 7 DMR. The shotgun handles close-range box fights while the AR or DMR covers everything beyond that. Fill the remaining slots with a healing item, the Thunder Burst SMG as a third weapon option, and either a mobility item or the Lawful Tracking Rifle if you're comfortable at range.

If you manage to secure a Mythic from either boss, replace the Chaos Reloader with the Dark Voyager's Obliterator Shotgun or keep Ice King's Gloves as a flex slot depending on the abilities they provide.
